Is it me, or is Start.ca complete poo poo at consistent uptime? Ever since i switched from TekSavvy because they're too expensive now, they haven't been able to goa single month without outages.

They don't give a poo poo about uptime, network quality, anything really. Usually they buy the company so they can shut it down and move them to Telus directly.

I just always blamed it on Rogers shittiness. I don't think I've ever called in, since it always resolves itself after a few hours.

The amount of poo poo in this thread that I simply don’t have to deal with by being a Fibrestream / Beanfield customer is incredible.

Unfortunately, it also seems to have the same price as Telus? At least for my address/plan. Although I guess this is a Telus contract price, not the ludicrous price they switch it to when the contract ends...

Dammit. They are finally digging to install fibre on my street in Aurora, but it's through TelMax. Who the hell is TelMax? 3.2 stars on google and the only discussion I can find is on r/newmarket and the comments there all follow the 1/10 or 10/10 reviews. Rates going up, getting ghosted by customer service, but no outage complaints. So if it works it's great, if installation isn't done right good luck getting it fixed. My cable line through Teksavvy/Rogers dangles on and above the rickety fences of 10 other houses to get to me. The junction box dangling above a fence a few houses down, regularly fills with water and my connection will cut in and out until the sun dries it out. So I think TelMax is my only option. Actually after 5 years of 3rd party technicians just running a new RG6 to my house, an actual Rogers technician showed up a few months ago and did some actual work, I only had 3 outages this winter! TelMax: $70/month for 1.5/1 with a 1 year contract, $93 for 1/1 with no contract. $60/month for 500/500 with a 1 year contract, $85 with no contract.

shadow puppet of a posted:lol at "TelMax" thats some real Hazel McCallion's son's business got the only permit kinda deal. Yup! For the first time in my life I would have been ok with Bell getting that contract. TelMax is based in Stouffville and just serves there and the Newmarket area, expanding into Aurora is going to leave them even more stretched thin. How is that allowing 3rd parties access to fibre lines going? Does it even matter if Teksavvy is putting itself up for sale? ugh Bell came by yesterday offering 500 for the same price. When I moved here 20 years ago, Aurora Cable Internet ran everything, apparently some of the fastest in Ontario. They were talking about rolling out fibre just before getting bought out by Rogers in 2008!

My street's cable run hangs from poles in the back laneway. On Tuesday, a semi truck got itself snagged in the line to my house. Rogers once again gave me the ol' no call, no show yesterday after a 9 hour service call window. Teksavvy says the service was marked complete but the cable's still out!
