Did you.. uh... did you get better??

I would like to think so. In '90 I was a college republican and Ayn Rand objectivist. I was pretty involved in politics but after becoming student government president I got to meet members of our state legislature and left with the impression that the only reason they were in state politics was because the skeletons in their closet were too big for the national stage. My fiancé rescued me from Rand and Newt's politics got me to fully leave the republicans. I think I considered my self "independent" and a libertarian through the latter half of the 90s and early 00s. A combination of my family and these forums steered me left; my kids saw how my wife and I treated people and assumed we were democrats or socialists and learning that was a bit of a shock. I donated to Sanders campaign in '15 and caucused for him in MN. Watching the DNC apparatus screw him turned me away from their party. At this point in time I see myself as an "independent" that votes Democrat straight-ticket as any other decision seems like electing people that actively want to hurt my family.

Here's an aurora shot from the 10th as a page snipe.

Trump sucks

Also, at polls showing Trump/down-ballot Dem voters. That’s not a thing. There are Trump/Republican voters, there are Biden/Democrat voters, and there are non-Trump/Republican voters who are either going to write-in Reagan or McCain or Haley or leave it blank, but no one’s voting for Trump at the top and also then voting for Democrats.

And for the record, the Libertarian Party has always gotten more votes than the Greens (and Stein and West are both pulling from the same pool of <3% of the electorate) and I think the Constitution Party’s going to get more votes than ever before this year, because Trump’s “leave it to the states!” position on abortion is too liberal for a lot of the anti-abortion freaks.

Also, wildcard RFK Jr.

My only concern is some people will just turn out to vote for Trump then leave the rest of the ballot blank. Since it’s an election year he’s on the ballot he does have some sycophants who will only vote if he’s on the ballot and every other Republican is a RiNO now…could explain it.

I’m still a little surprised, 5 or 6 years later, that the Canadian government just said one day “we’re gonna make it legal now” and that was basically that. There was a long chunk of time after that, to get everybody’s ducks in a row and sort out the details, but there was never any real pushback or big attempts to stop it.

It just kinda happened overnight and we’ve all moved on with our lives since then.

Trumbo being so loving mad about opponents and their teleprompter use, which otherwise he clearly replies upon himself, is par the course. He's an elemental "rules for thee but not for me". It's like: Nepotism Bad (unless I do it). Same with SC immunity.

Maryland legalized weed about a year ago and everyone seems to approve. Going to the dispensary on a Friday night is like a big party where people from all walks of life are crammed into a small place where everyone in a good mood and chatting each other up. It's surreal but a very pleasant experience and I genuinely enjoy going there to give them money for weed.

Everyone is so nice and friendly from the customers to the staff and it's somehow more informal then going to a gas station.

What you have, in my opinion, is not legal weed. You have illegal weed, and some jurisdictions choose to ignore that. But the topmost (federal) jurisdiction deffo considers it, and I quote, “illegal as Satan’s dick” so too bad.

We are more than 10 years in to legal weed in Colorado and it's not really any different than going to the liquor store at this point. "Hey babe can you pick up a bottle of wine some gummies on your way home?" Other than an obnoxious amount of billboards advertising places with ~* GREEN *~ in the name there is no loving change.

Eh. The only real danger is to the folks that own the dispensaries. I haven't heard of a single instance around me of people buying weed from dispensaries being busted by feds.

It's the same here. It's pretty wild how quickly it flipped to just being "normal". There are at least 3 dispensaries now within a mile from my house. The only odd part is the security they use which is far above what you'd see at a liquor store. Both of the stores that I've been to have a setup where you walk into a lobby like you're in a NYC diamond retailer. There's a guy behind bulletproof bank teller glass who scans your ID and then they buzz you into the back where the party is.

They have super nice touch screen menus where you just poke what you want and they bring it to you but you are absolutely not allowed to touch anything you are buying until after you have paid for it (they are incredibly strict about this and I have been yelled at once for it). You also can't use credit cards there but you can get around this by basically doing a cash transaction with a debit card. They hand you all your stuff in a brown paper bag and off you go.
