Master of the high hat!
Eidola just put a new record out last month too, it's a little more metalcore than their previous post hardcore stuff but it's still drat good! And they're on/about to go on tour too

Yeah, that's the only album I've heard anything from. I read this one is heavier than their previous works, so I haven't bothered going back

Andrew Wells is a good fit. I really liked his feature on their track a few years back and he sits nicely between the tones of previous vocalists, though hopefully with none of their issues.

I'm firmly in the camp of believing his ego having expanded well past a sustainable level. My guy loves himself. Peak lead singer.

What's a good album to start with for Eidola?

e: whoa ok I see what you're talking about as far as their older stuff being way more post-hardcore and the new stuff being a lot djentier

I only like several songs from To Speak, To Listen and really fell off on Architects.

Saw no cure, Kaonashi, Orthodox, and Boundaries in a small, sold out room last night and, gahdamn, what a tour package. poo poo was so good. Definitely check it out if they roll through your town.

Planning to hit up He Is Legend tonight. They're playing I Am Hollywood in full, so that should also be sick

Friend sent me this. Contention - Artillery From Heaven

I'm having a hard time believing this wasn't actually written 20 years ago, just only recorded recently. Very, very, 2000s metalcore. It even has "grumpy old man" style movie quotes interspersed.

Edit: lolololol, there's even a W. Bush sample on it.

lmao perfect.

The new Ancst album also has some real 20 years ago vibes but way more subtle. Cool mix of various hardcore and metal elements that is quite a step away from their other releases.

What'd you think of He is Legend? I saw them last week for the first time and was absolutely delighted. Hollywood was my first introduction to them and then I fell off for many years. I listened to Few one time when it came out, but White Bat really brought me back and made me catch up on their discog.

Sad I had to miss Kaonashi when they came through.

I'm a huge HIL fan, so, naturally, I loved it. I know they aren't super in the scene anymore, but I've enjoyed every album, regardless of sound changes. It was very sick to see I Am Hollywood in full.

Edit: I've seen them a handful of times before, but this was the first time the crowd was so obviously there for them. Seeing the whole crowd singing along to every song warmed my lovely little heart

Not sure if this belongs more in the metal thread or here with the baroqueness of it but I came across Disembodied Tyrant/Synestia's The Poetic Edda the other day and I am loving it. First song to give me goosebumps in a long time
