HoratioRash, you have said you are ignorant about geopolitics - please let me recommend a new book by Taras Kuzio, too sensitive for publishers like the University of Toronto in supposedly democratic countries like the UK or Canada because it makes clear the relationships between those countries' financial institutions and corrupt former Ukrainian elites like Fyrtash, Yushchenko, Yanukovich etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mCSORPNBh8

Brown Moses, since you're in the house, have you got any links about separatist announcements on social media that they shot down a military cargo plane the same day as MH-17 before pulling them? Didn't they think they'd brought down some kind of Antonov at first? Word was they didn't realize it was civilian until men searched the crash site, Ukrainian security services released some unconfirmed audio logs I think of radio chatter where it dawns on them it wasn't a military plane but I guess that's pretty shaky. And there's the classic "Oh, the plane was full of corpses to begin with!" defense they tried out.

I first thought you would answer that you were always hidden, but that brings up another issue: what the gently caress do you do about enemy UAV? Radio jamming? Shoot it? There's an open source project called Skyjack that you might be able to develop on to seize their drones. Either this will give you their UAVs, which is good, or it will make them waste time and money booby trapping their drones, which is at least better than nothing. I can dig more stuff up, but it's posts like the one below your one. What we have found is something we think is rather more compelling. We've dug up social media posts from the morning if July 17th, well before MH17 was shot down, with various people posting about seeing a Buk. The times and locations match the work we've done previously on the videos and photos of the Buk, and adds to the body of evidence showing a Buk travelled through sepertists controlled territory. We've also found other posts from local people shortly after MH17 was shot down where they've seen a missile launched, and that also fits with the launch site we've identified south of Snizhne. I expect next week there's going to be a lot of new reports from Eastern Ukraine, I know as number of journalists are out there now working on stuff.

A mortar is superior in almost every way. If you want to use a UAV to kill people, the thing it is best suited for is to provide targeting for other weapons.

Unless you decided to pay the YOSSEC crew around here some serious money you would probably never be able to connect to their real identity. Of course the alternative is just banning anyone who is under suspicion, but that would be lame. Here's a good question. Horatio, are you a privileged combatant? 1) The work process of the Dutch Safety Board seems quite transparent to me. According to their website the final report can be expected in October. Drafts of the final report have already been submitted to the concerned countries for comments. As far as i knew, the Dutch Safety Board hasn't made any accusations towards Russia so far, and I couldn't find the blacked out page you spoke of in the preliminary report from September 2014. Could you please point me to the report where they did these things? 2) Just because the separatists aren't recognized (as an independent state by Ukraine and the West – I assume this is what you meant), doesn't mean they can't be held responsible for crimes. But I agree that it is probably likely that Russia to some extent will be held responsible for the MH17 incident, when the final report of the Dutch Safety Board is released. Do you feel that this is unfair? Are you of the opinion that the Dutch investigation and the proposed tribunal bear ulterior motives or ill intentions towards Russia?

What do the rebels want? What is their ideal end game? What is their goal that once achieved they will stop fighting? What would they be willing to live with as a compromise instead of getting everything that they want? How do you feel about other similar situations with Russian nationals in other countries succeeding, ie Moldova, Georgia... Whats the deal with Chechnya? I don't know anything about it, but from my point of view it seems like they want their own country and the Russians aren't cool with it, and the same thing happens in Ukraine, and the Russians are cool with it? As an American, I don't really have a strong "ethnic/nationalistic" sense of identity. Do you really feel more kinship with one person you have never met who is hundreds (maybe thousands? I don't know the geography over there too well?) of miles away in Ukraine than another just because of their language? Or do you just see yourself as helping people who need it and you have an opportunity? Aren't there plenty of other ways to help people in a lot of need without risking your life, and/or harming people, and/or potentially being on the wrong side of a very complicated and unclear geopolitical conflict? What was the tipping point for this to start? For me, I would have to feel very systematically oppressed to violently rebel against my country, and also feel like I have some sort of chance of getting meaningful change. Was this in the works for a long time? Could the Ukrainians have seen this coming and done something to stop it, like spend more money on public works or education in the area, or if their was discrimination against Russian speakers, try to more proactively stop it? Do you feel hate towards the Ukrainians, or do you think that you are just doing what you have to do to protect people? What are your emotions towards the conflict, the rebels the Ukrainians? What was life like in the area before the conflict? Would a Russian and Ukrainian who are neighbors hate each other and never speak? Or did they not live near each other and there were ghettos or something? What level of oppression did Russians face? Could they not be allowed to get certain jobs or something? Or was it more like life sucks maybe it will be better if we start a rebellion? What is the average rebel like? Socially conservative? liberal? Anti- gay? Pro-Abortion? Tolerant? Racist? Anti Semetic? Religious? Well Educated? Farmer? Factory worker? Office worker? Or is there just a huge mix and it's not possible to generalize? What does the average rebel want with their life and where do they see themselves on 20 years? What has changed and what has stayed the same since the start of the conflict? can you still watch TV? see a movie? go to a concert? Buy candy? Go to school? University? Buy new clothes in a store? Buy a car? Send and receive mail? Any organized spots teams playing? Or is it just a war torn hell hole? Would it be possible for someone to keep their head down and just go to their 9-5 and ignore everything as long as they were in an area that didn't see heavy fighting? Is there any form of government or legal system? can you call 999 if you're getting mugged? is there a fire department? Ambulance? People to give parking tickets? Court system? taxes? Thanks. I have a question OP... Let's just say that the Ukrainian government shed reasonably as much corruption from its ranks as can possibly be achieved by a government, such that it actually IS ruled by its people and benefits its people, including the people who live in Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts. This would naturally include some reasonable autonomy for independent oblasts/shared power between the central government and its oblasts. I know this is an incredibly huge assumption but let's just say there were significant portrayals of a better life on the other side of the battlefield, in Ukraine, as a result of the corruption being mostly wiped out. Would you support integration with Ukraine with appropriate terms? Why or why not?
