Actually, i guess some programmers do like it because they get paid a lot of money since a good java dev is hard to find.

I'd like to welcome our Debate and Discussion compatriots. The filing cabinet analogy thing that google used was confusing and weird. I think google probably did wrong legally but the outcome is good because compatibility of code is good.

I think google probably did wrong legally but the outcome is good because compatibility of code is good. I blame lawyerspeak. They used whatever would sell their concept to the Jury, and it appears to have worked. Frankly, Oracle is just the new SCO. They want a piece of the pie that they were not involved in (since Android was largely developed under Sun's watch, and Sun's CEO said in court that they had zero reason to go after Google even if they hadn't made an agreement because of the GPL/FOSS viewpoint). Oracle bought Sun and now is throwing a tantrum because Sun didn't go after them. Oracle even admitted in the court case that they tried to replicate Google's success with Java in Android by making their own and couldn't do it. So its the tantrum of a angry child that is hurting financially and looking for a convenient cash source. CommieGIR fucked around with this message at 21:14 on May 30, 2016 |
