You will play Washington in the Holiday and like it.

Also good on UAB getting the Bahamas Bowl, players deserve it. Hope this doesn't send the program too far back underwater financially and another one of Bear's kids decides to close to school accordingly.

The part where Northwestern played in the Outback recently and the bowl contracts don't want repeat teams within a certain time period.

The Seattle Bowl was played at Safeco Field. Because of how the field is designed, both teams had to be situated on the same sideline. If you were sitting out in right field, you weren't seeing the action.

If they could get CenturyLink or Husky Stadium I could see it, but...

magicJack St. Petersburg Bowl (2008)
St. Petersburg Bowl Presented by Beef 'O' Brady's (2009)
Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl (2010–2013)
Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl (2014)
St. Petersburg Bowl (2015–2016)
Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl (2017-)

More bowls should embrace dumb sponsors. It's also in a lovely baseball stadium. It's the perfect garbage bowl.

They actually played a game in CenturyLink, but by that point the damage was done. Jeep pulled its sponsorship and the organizers basically lost their shirts on the team payouts. The NCAA pulled the plug after that.

Does Washington have a hope to play in a NY6 bowl? Per rankings they're ~13th. NY6 needs 12 teams and the G5 team UCF is ahead of them at present. If either TCU or Ohio State lose their championship game badly, then be at 10-3, would it be enough to drop either of them out of the NY6 in favor of Washington? Pac12 champ is likely to Fiesta so a second would be to Cotton or Peach. TCU home town discount could keep them in Cotton and Ohio State name could keep them in regardless.

Amazon is stingy af. Their offices are the most austere I've been to for a tech company. They're nice, but p much no perks/amenities. They do pay extremely well tho.

It'll depend on where they are on Tuesday, but they'll be behind whoever wins between USC and Stanford for sure, plus if Stanford wins they'll probably still be behind USC. Give that we're probably going to have three B1G/SEC teams to take care of, the UCF/Memphis winner, both Miami/Clemson and TCU/Oklahoma and the Pac-12 winner, I don't see an opening for Washington. Your best hope is that Oklahoma beats the brakes off of TCU and USC beats Stanford, which might be enough for Washington to limp in. I wouldn't bet on it, however.

So with the penultimate rankings out, let's look at two scenarios that could arise this weekend:

Committee's Wet Dream

#1 Clemson beats #7 Miami
#3 Oklahoma beats #11 TCU
#4 Wisconsin beats #8 Ohio State
#10 USC beats #12 Stanford

(Auburn/Georgia and UCF/Memphis happen but those don't have a huge impact so we'll give them to the favorites)

College Football Playoff

pre:
Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #1 Clemson (ACC Champs) vs. #4 Wisconsin (Big Ten Champs)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #2 Auburn (SEC Champs) vs. #3 Oklahoma (Big 12 Champs)
pre:
Peach Bowl Jan. 1 Atlanta, Ga. At-large vs. At-large UCF vs. Georgia
Orange Bowl Dec. 30 Miami, Fl. ACC vs. SEC/B1G/ND Miami vs. Alabama
Fiesta Bowl Dec. 30 Glendale, Az. At-large vs. At-large USC vs. Ohio State
Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large Penn State vs. Washington
Bama stays at 5 and faces the highest ranked ACC teams in the Orange, Miami. UCF heads to the Peach as the Group of 5 rep where they face Georgia, who takes a second loss to Auburn but isn't overly punished for it. USC wins the Pac-12 and stays west in the Fiesta, where they face B1G runner-up Ohio State. Penn State moves up a little due to the movement and heads to the Cotton where they face Washington, who had one less loss than TCU and their win over Washington State ends up looking just a hair better than TCU's win over Oklahoma State. It's close and can go either way, but TCU gets jobbed by the committee once again.

And the rest.

#11 TCU beats #3 Oklahoma
#8 Ohio State beats #4 Wisconsin
#12 Stanford beats #10 USC
#20 Memphis beats #14 UCF
North Texas beats FAU
Akron beats Toledo
Fresno State beats Boise State

College Football Playoff

pre:
Sugar Bowl Jan. 1 New Orleans, La. #1 Georgia (SEC Champs) vs. #4 Clemson (At-Large)
Rose Bowl Jan. 1 Pasadena, Ca. #2 Alabama (At-Large) vs. #3 Miami (ACC Champs)
Hooo boy. So with the top four all losing Alabama slides in, but gets passed by Georgia for first. Miami gets in, but Clemson doesn't drop out as they have 5 top-25 wins while Ohio State has just three. In the end, we have two at-larges, only two conferences represented, and a boatload of salt coming in from the midwest as Ohio State can't jump the four spots necessary to get in.

pre:
Peach Bowl Jan. 1 Atlanta, Ga. At-large vs. At-large Auburn vs. Memphis
Orange Bowl Dec. 30 Miami, Fl. ACC vs. SEC/B1G/ND Virginia Tech vs. Ohio State
Fiesta Bowl Dec. 30 Glendale, Az. At-large vs. At-large Stanford vs. Oklahoma
Cotton Bowl Dec. 29 Arlington, Tx. At-large vs. At-large TCU vs. Wisconsin
Four spots are already spoken for among the conference champs not represented. Ohio State is the highest ranked SEC/B1G/ND team so they head to the Orange, where they face a Virginia Tech team taking the ACC's spot and the biggest beneficiary of all this chaos. Stanford wins the Pac-12 and stays west while TCU wins the Big 12 and stays in-state. Memphis heads to the Peach. Auburn, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma all fall out of the top 4 and down to here, Auburn in the Peach, Sooners out west to the Fiesta, Badgers back south to the Cotton for the second straight year.

And the rest.

pre:
Citrus Bowl Jan. 1 Orlando, Fla. ACC/Big Ten vs. SEC Notre Dame vs. LSU

Middle Tennessee and Buffalo still get left out, but Wyoming ends up being replaced by WKU. Penn State ends up being completely dicked over and knocked out of the NY6 bowls entirely.

Some fun matchups either way though your preference for the second set of bowls depends if you live in the southeast or not.

Second scenario would almost be worth it if it sparked a serious push for 8 game playoff.

As a Georgia Tech and Tennessee fan those are 4 of my most hated teams

I really hope New Mexico State makes it to a bowl game this year. The last time they went bowling, my mother was about 2 months old.

"Tell that to Zod's snapped neck!"

it also actively fucks Penn State out of a NY6 bowl so I'm all for it.

Cutty approves.
It would be super cool if there were more bowl games not located in CA, TX, or the South. The closest that Washington can go bowling is, like, El Paso, which is bullshit.

Play some games in the snow you fucks.

Is this Heaven?
Bowl games are a vacation for fans and most people don’t want to sit outside and watch a game in the cold (I know, you are tough and manly and love snow, everyone is very impressed)

They did that in El Paso a couple of years ago! With Miami of all teams!

I went to a bowl game in Phoenix where it was colder than it was it Iowa and I have never felt so ripped off.

I'd be satisfied if it was simply possible to not have Miami in the Orange Bowl, LSU in the Sugar, and so on. Not particularly neutral sites!!!

WE ARE SMART
Bowl games are supposed to be a reward for the players, too, and in the middle of December, they'd generally much rather go somewhere warm than some freezing midwestern hellhole.

Only people from the north/midwest think snow is this wonderful thing. There's a reason so many of y'all snowbird during these months.
