MP servers are down of course but at least they kept the basic login stuff and the store up for early access so I went ahead and plunked another $30 in the slot machine trying to get my setups on lockdown for the 14th. Having trouble deciding on some of the hero buffs from these boxes though, like is it worth 2 slots to do the wombo combo of Health regeneration no longer has activation delay paired with +50% Health regeneration speed, or just stick with the more basic stuff like 65% Cooldown reduction.

If EA and DICE were going to put all the items inside loot boxes, they might as well did what they already did with Battlefront and the Battlefield games and make big microtransactions that unlocked EVERY item and rank, and give it the same price as you'd pay for a season pass.

Walker assault is Galactic assault now, and it's a variety of different things depending on the map and stage of the map. So you might escort the ATAT through a few map phases, and whatever it's health % is when it gets to the end is how many spawns you get to do capture and hold on the control room. Most objectives are a variation on the attacking team having to blow a thing up, stand in a certain place for a while, or escort something, but it's used a variety of ways and generally feels pretty exciting and dramatic. Dogfighting is sort of gone and replaced with space ship objective modes that work like the above, generally a sequence of blowing up different things in tricky to reach places. Theres frequently a door that opens for 20 seconds or so so you've got to zoom your fighter into an enclosed and shoot at something before escaping. This mode is brilliant. Theres also strike, which is tiny assault and mostly variations on capture the flag that I've seen. I also continue to think the cards are more an issue of lovely predatory business practices rather than anything that actually breaks the game. If you can hold your nose you can enjoy the game and stomp all over people without spending money. If it bothers you on a moral level and you don't want to support it, more power to you. I just like the gameplay. I feel bad for those who just buy these games for campaign because those modes don't get as much attention nowadays, whereas multiplayer only games like Overwatch, COD, PUBG, EA Battlefront 1 are where everyone's at. It also doesn't help that it's going to be so short, it could be interesting but then you forget they have to balance the production time between story and multiplayer modes, and seeing how much players just focus on MP, they spend more time focusing on that (and loot boxes).

They are expensive, but just in the few hours I've been playing I've hit 10000 twice and purchased back down so while its still, again, lovely it's probably not going to mean you never see these characters.

Yeah they chose those two characters because everyone has them. Like to be clear, heroes are expensive to unlock but that is only for the sake of variety. I believe everyone has access to at least two heroes per side in any game type right from the start. And since heroes are not era locked you'll always have something available. Yes I know that is still stupid poo poo.

Still no idea why they didn't use era-fitting heroes for the various maps. They go through all the effort of making the game look and feel like proper Star Wars... and then it goes out the door when Kylo Ren storms Kamino.

My favorite is Boba Fett killing clones. I can just imagine him thinking 'Stop shooting yourself, stop rocketing yourself' the entire time he's on the field. I also wonder if Anakin will be a hero down the line. It would be kind of weird to have him and Darth Vader fighting each other.

I will say something positive, and that is that I hope Finn is fun to play and I am looking forward to his inclusion. And free DLC including single player content is nice. Also, I guess the reason I couldn't get a refund was because I had waited too long at it was literally the exact day/time that my system had just begun its automatic download (without my realizing it). Whoops! How are Hero Ships handled in Starfighter mode? Do you have to unlock them like regular heroes with credits also before they become available?

Do you have to buy heroes via credits outside of a MP match before you can to buy/play them in the match after earning enough points? Does that make sense? That news about the Last Jedi DLC made it seem like you had to buy Fin and Phasma For Honor style before I can play as them in MOP

Yeah I got clarification about that a little further up, its kind of unbelievable. On top of needing star cards and poo poo for them you aren't even allowed to play the most popular characters. Also, according to the Reddit the Single-Player Campaign character costs 20,000 to unlock, or ~4 Trooper loot crates. Vader costs 60,000 (12 crates). I'm afraid of what they'll cost the new characters as.
