i hate most narration on nature videos, always ascribing human motivations to their subjects — "Kiko knows he will have to trick the feisty Buba, or it will come to a fight" yea sure otoh it also produces this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIDJ-sTuoO8

Marula fruit can be fermented into a fairly nasty beer, but animals don't get drunk eating the rotten fruits. The film makers shot them with tranquilizers to get most of those scenes. I read somewhere that the whole myth about lemmings jumping into the sea came from an early Disney nature film in which the film makers literally threw lemmings down a cliff and filmed it. I'll bet baboons are mean drunks anyway...

I was noticing that the monkeys in the tree and the elephants shaking the tree were never in the same shot.

I love those tiny grape monkeys. Tiny monkeys are the best type of monkeys. The apes are too close to human to be “awww cute I want to snuggle one” for me.

I love the apes because they are so like us. The monkeys are still very great, though. Lot of cool primates.

How's that old quote go? If you give a gorilla an otter, it'll pick it up, look at it for a little, put it down and forget about it. If you give a chimpanzee an otter, it'll beat another chimp to death with it. If you give an orangutan an otter, it'll figure out a way to escape from its enclosure by means of an otter-powered spaceship.
