Asheville is EXTREMELY expensive for housing though. Also most of nc from what i understand is conservative. Not Asheville though, it's full of dirty hippies. My aunt used to call them the crunchy granola people (i miss her)

It's OK. I live near Knoxville and as mentioned, the area is beautiful, and the people are...well, what you expect from a state that banned drag and has a state congressman who groomed a girl fifty years his junior into becoming his wife. It's kinda telling that my friend group is mostly people that moved there for science jobs in Oak Ridge or cheap housing. I mean, it's not really that bad, especially in the city areas, but there's a reason Knoxville is very high in how many churches it has. I dunno, I like it well enough that I still live here. I had friends that escaped to CA, and that was nice the couple times I visited them, but also out of my price range and too crowded for my tastes. I'm probably just gonna stay here and chill and enjoy life until I'm murdered or something. Any time I need culture I can always visit GBS. So yeah, you should move to a deserted island in the middle of the ocean so we never have to read your posts again OP. P.S. VOLS BITCH

I live just south of Knoxville, and of course the rural areas are pure hillbilly white trash racist fucks, but at least Knoxville does have some good stuff hidden away. Went to Temple last night (local knoxville goth night basically) and saw Voltaire live for the first time after missing his show like 10 years in a row. Good to see the community is still strong with them and had a great time.

If you are seriously thinking of moving to the south, I recommend Northwest Arkansas. Great scenery, all the amenities, great food, beer, activities. It’s a little more expensive if you live in Fayetteville or Bentonville proper but there are lots of cheap places to live on the outskirts. It’s substantially more diverse now that it was 100 years ago too. Yes, Springdale used to literally have whites only billboard outside of town 50 years ago but the KKK has since retreated to their homeland a 100 miles East in Mountain Home and North East AR. If I could work remote anywhere in the US, I’d probably move back there.

I love being in Memphis, but it feel completely separate from the rest of Tennessee. We have a really good LGBTQ and goth community. The rest of the state is pure CHUD.
