Safety has become a much more high-profile position, especially with the proliferation of spread offenses.

It's not a position for poor athletes anymore.

Just look at Seattle's defense with and without Earl Thomas this season. Just night and day.

I don't remember seeing stat breakdowns of Indianapolis with and without Bob Sanders (dude was great but made of glass). Wonder if it was similar. Safeties seem like they're more and more important all the time.

Did we watch the same superbowl? Peyton was poo poo for the entire first half and the Broncos never got back into the game.

I'd say Nnandi Asomougha on the Eagles. Great at playing on the sideline! Let's line him up in the center of the field. What could go wrong?

Just because he was the best player on a defense that was hot garbage doesn't mean he was great. He was completely used wrong and played the entire year injured and by his own admission hated his time there. When he left he signed a jersey for a Bucs exec and signed it "Thanks for letting me leave".

Random stat I just noticed: the nfc north is the only division to not have a division winner win the super bowl. GB won it as a wild card, have to go back to the '90s GB team for a nfc central/north team to win division then SB

broncos '15 : won afc west.
pats '14 : won afc east.
hawks '13: won nfc west
ravens '12 : won afc north
giants: '11 won nfc east
saints '09 won nfc south
colts '06: won afc south
