I'm a few episodes into the thorny arc and holy crap is it ever good. As a whole I've been finding the arcs in the second series to be much better than the ones in the first. The Four Devas arc is my favourite and I loved Samurai Heart as an ED for it. Even the stand alone episodes are much better in the second series. Also the jump to widescreen is nice. In short: Gintama is good and I love it.

Samurai Heart is a very good ED. Most of the OP/ED songs in the second series are really good, it's like another step up in quality even though there were good ones in the first series.

To be more specific, the title literally are the kanji for silver soul (銀魂), which sounds pretty close to (but different enough) to kintama (金玉, golden balls).
