liz and the blue bird is a masterpiece. i know there are some gorgeous anime movies, but i've never seen an anime that came close to the level of emotional subtlety that liz and the blue bird achieves. it's just 90 straight minutes of sidelong glances, awkward hair tugging, and smiles of various authenticity levels and it's breathtaking. https://i.imgur.com/GpvwrB8.mp4

this is my favorite scene (outside of the like the entire last 20 minutes which is untouchable). it's such a sweet moment before we get to the role reversal and really start digging into nozomi's character. also, i like obvious metaphors and it's hard to get more obvious than 'nozomi realizes she's shining a light on mizore' (even if it takes nozomi another 50 minutes of screen time to understand this point). https://i.imgur.com/CvRer8s.mp4
