I mean, to be fair after the Orc Lord vanishingly few plot points rest on whether or not Slime Boy is powerful enough to power through things. It's almost all about an over powered being finding a way to fix an issue without infringing on his and his buddies quality of goofing around time. Also it was a good idea to have the last episode actually focus on Diablo reacting to people talking about Rimuru while pretending to focus on the plot.

This season is certainly proving itself to be “Staff Meeting: the anime.”

Can’t wait to see how the bad guys? Hold meetings. Maybe they’ll give everyone 10 minutes in round robin and then do breakout groups

It's meetings all the way down!

Yeah they're not doing a good job of making this earlier part flow better.

4 episodes without any action is a bold choice. That said, I enjoyed all of them. I wouldn't be bothered by a few more talking episodes.

I think this is right about where I stopped reading the WN and I can see why.

I'd really forgotten how much of this series is just people sitting around at conference tables having meetings. I wonder if the author was shaped by some time in a Japanese company where all they did was this, because I can't imagine they think this is super compelling stuff.

Funniest things is that the series passed SAO as the best selling LN of all time(or at very least HEAVILY rivals it) and is one of Kodansha's best selling series so a LOT of somebody's find it compelling. A big part of the issue is translating text and comic to animation and the studio just can't seem to nail it quite well. Edit: Scratch that, it passed both SAO and Raildex for the title of best selling of all time. doomrider7 fucked around with this message at 03:32 on May 5, 2024 |

Yeah Studio 8-bit or whoever is doing episode comp has not been doing a very good job since stuff could have been better fleshed out and paced in a lot of places.

Okay so I finally got around to the episodes and wanna comment. The meeting with the Saints and Rooks with Hinata was very poorly done as stated earlier and is missing the nuance of Hinata's internal monologues where she KNOWS that she's not exactly popular with the Rooks and intends to "fix" that via extreme disciplinary training methods and bringing the Rooks down a peg by reminding them who she is and WHY she's the one in charge. Hinata KNOWS that Glenda(the red haired Rook) doesn't have a lot of respect for her and that she's hiding something and thinks she's being clever. Hinata lets it slide because she's useful and intends to handle that issue once things settle down. Hinata has a VERY low opinion on the Seven Luminaries. She went through their ordeal and not only passed it, but used the opportunity to poach their skills and abilities using her Unique Skill Usurper. She also views their lax mediocrity as the reason why it was only until recently that the Crusaders made real gains and the overall quality of the forces has gone up. She immediately recognizes that the sword they try to foist on her is a mediocre dud compared to her main weapon and that it's quite obvious to her that they want her removed. Before she heads out to Tempest, there's also a breakfast scene that implies that she and Cardinal Nicklaus might have a thing, but I don't recall if this is ever really made a thing or if he's just a huge fanboy. The Tempest side meeting was about the same if I recall so not much changed there though Adalman details his circumstances in that he was setup by the Luminaries and only survived by the hand of his friend the Sage Gadra who gave him the blessing of reincarnation hence why he came back as a lich. He details that while powerful in combat, the Luminaries carry a great deal of political influence which even Hinata cannot ignore or circumvent. The meeting with the Rozzo family was about the same, but a few things got left out. Damrada actually comments further on Glenda's pistols citing it as an older model before drawing his own newer make at her. At the end of the meeting it's also revealed that the Rozzo family are the secret de factor rulers of the Western States.

I know this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think Diablo looked way better before donning the butler outfit. I appreciate that it's cool to have this super powerful butler doing all kinds of crazy stuff, but I really liked his pre-naming outfit
