Gave up a sack, was dominant in the run game. Played the full first half if I recall right. Overall very solid showing.

Cool. Looks like the defensive line beat the poo poo out of the Panthers too. I am pleased.

fsif posted:

Missed most the preseason game today but the big takeaway seems to be that Matt Barkley is the truth.
Kyle Allen was a train wreck. Barkley actually looked in control of things.
All the first team receivers didn't do much because KA was a train wreck. So no spectacular debut for Kincaid.
Shakir had two great catches then undid all his hard work with a dumb drop on an easy 3rd down catch that would have been a new 1st.
There was high hopes for Shavers after camp. His first half performance was bad (drop, drop that becomes a pick 6) but magically got better in the second when Barkley was doing the throwing.
Seen a bunch of 'Where was Shorter?' questions - he was out there but with Kyle throwing, nothing was going to go his way.
James Cooked.
Murray cooked as RB2
OL seemed reasonable.
DL looked good, including depth.
CB less so. It's going to be White-Jackson to start.
Williams was probably the most visible LB out there. Anyone who does tape review of the game are probably not going to give Dodson or Spector good reviews.
Depth WR looked good
Mims flashed as depth RB
Bass missed a XP
Martin punted well.
ST coverage was generally good and limited the Colts.
Too many penalties, especially false starts/neutral zone infractions.
Allen the Superior was apparently doing some play-calling alongside Dorsey, including a 13 yard pass for a Dezmon Patmon touchdown.

Amazed that Barkley was basically out of the league, gets signed off the street, has a good game against the Jets 2 weeks after joining Buffalo, and has managed to parlay that into a pretty decent backup career since.

He did the really smart career thing and became buds with the starter. He's pretty obviously horrible even by QB2 standards but he has a job running practice squads and being Josh Allen's friend.

Eich is an all time flop. He was supposed to be mediocre but pro ready and he’s instead just flat footed and weak.

I think we’re gonna see Isiah Wynn at LG and the rest of the line same as last year. That San Diego state kid apparently has won the backup job which is simply grim, or awesome? Depending how you view it (it’s grim)

Well thats what I mean, just expressed poorly. It's grim that we had such a bad backup center position that this UDFA is coming in and stealing it so quickly. Glass half full is that he's legit good, and will give us flexibility as a G/C backup. Or its bad because our established group is pathetic.

Its nearly impossible to give any sliver of hope to Miami when it comes to O-line but maybe we'll see. I just wish I saw some additional moves, but Grier does not seem to recognize the issues.

I dunno. I like Wynne, he seems to have settled well, Hunt remains awesome, Connor seems to be settling back, and all these bad practices are without Armstead.

And the system seems to be very friendly to vaguely competent journeymen, which is very helpful

Eichenberg just straight up doesn't have the physical tools to play at the NFL level. That's what you get for drafting based on college production instead of physical traits.

I’m just picturing this line without Armstead.

Having Connor Williams show up after his mini holdout was huge though. That’s fair

MC32, Knight and Izzy are role player type guys. If they don't bring in Cook (which doesn't look like it's going to happen) they are better hope Breece comes back early and close to what he was last season which I'm not the most hopeful of.

It almost has to be Carter but cutting any of them would feel bad imo. Anyways, Jets not allowing them to show Cook's visit on Hard Knocks is probably the writing on the wall that they're not going to budge on price.

He's gonna get like 100 carries for like 350 yards and a dozen catches, but we'll have to pretend his pass blocking and half dozen goalline td runs is what makes him worth more then what Damien Harris got from the Bills.

I mean, I would be fine paying Zeke like $2 million for blitz pickups and short yardage/goal line situations. But I'd be concerned that they are going to try to ask him to play a bigger role if they are offering him up to $6 million with incentives.

Edit: money, though we don’t know the incentives yet

I doubt it's more then the like $1.7m Damien Harris got from the Bills. It's just all incentives like that 3 year / $30m contract they gave DeVante Parker a few months ago that's really a 2 year $11m deal.

E: $3m base? Why?
