Hey bun thread ! Meant to post some cute pictures here for a while but I kept forgetting. Meet Broussette:  She's a 2 years old lionhead and honestly the chillest bunny I ever had to take care of. She almost never bites cables or furniture (unless you present her with cardboard, she might go berserk then). I adopted her from a neighbor when she was 3 months old. She can turn into a boat as well  : I'll post some more later.

Hi Pancakes ! FactsAreUseless posted:Our vet tells us it's a rabbit. I'm not certain he just doesn't like fruit, I think it might be because we had to remove his incisors. My rabbit never had any surgery beyond sterilization and she doesn't like fruit either. I've had bunnies and various rodents for decades and she's clearly the exception in that department but don't worry too much about it, it happens. I have a question that might seem a bit strange so let me give this post some context. I've been reducing my household waste dramatically over the past year (we're somewhere in the 50 to 60% reduction range) which is great but has lead to an unexpected issue: our garbage bin is now 50% bunny litter and since we empty it less frequently it smells more. The obvious answer here would be to have a smaller bin and empty it more frequently but as you can imagine I'm looking for a better solution, reducing my waste and all. Broussette has to do her part.  The most obvious way to deal with it would be to compost it all but unfortunately that's not an option at the moment. (I live in a big city, the residents in my building don't want a common compost and all public composts in the neighborhood have a waiting list longer than the queue at a Bieber concert) So here's what I have to work with: - A vermicompost: probably not a solution here, my fuzzy poop factory produces way more waste than the worms could absorb and the smell would be even worse. - Potted plants: ??? - Potty training  Seriously I'm out of ideas. This is the litter we use by the way Pictured below: the problem.

It's what the cleaners at work do and the same bag ends up staying in the trash can for weeks sometimes as long as the bags integrity isn't compromised or something gross got all over the bag. Thanks ! It's a good idea, I actually already reuse the bag for my recycle bin (cardboard, aluminum...) so I could do the same here. Ideally the idea would be to not throw any of that in the landfill but I don't think it's realistic without an actual compost.

Works with most rabbits in my experience. Especially when they chew the bars loudly. Won't prevent him from throwing stuff around but it should really help. edit: not to cover the sound but to darken the inside of the cage. Appeases them for some reason.

Dude, you came to the bunny thread on dead gay forum something awful dot com because you wanted us to google stuff for you ? Be serious. Everyone told you this was a bad idea, either from experience with dogs or bunnies or both but you keep hoping we might change our minds because ?  I’ve already pointed out some major red flags in the article you linked us, and while I don’t have much experience with dogs I can tell you with absolute certainty that I would never let one in my home as long as I have a rabbit there. Period. Bunnies need a stress free space to live long and happy and any kind of dog is very much NOT that for them. If it was a cat that’d be a maybe but poodles, mini or toy, are not cats. Just last week my bun sped across the flat hitting doors and furniture on her way because she heard a dog outside. She stomped the floor for minutes hidden under our bed. If you’re not going to heed the advice of people with decades of bun ownership behind them then why the gently caress did you come here in the first place ? I'll try one last time: The rabbits don't give two shits whether the dog is trained or not and them living at maximum stress level day and night is your best case scenario here. I understand you want to damage control the situation with your gf by training the dog but no amount of wishful thinking is going to revive those buns the day the Poodle is bored and decides it wants to play with them.

Quick question for you Electric Bugaloo, what kind of brush would you recommend for a lionhead? Broussette is starting to look like a hairy gremlin and the pet shops around here don’t have anything specific for bunnies so I’m considering ordering online. Since you’re the floof specialist I figured I might ask beforehand.

Thanks a lot for the in depth advice ! Regarding the trimmer I already have a good one for my own hair/beard but I would not trust myself to trim my poor rabbit with it. I’ve gone for a trio of small furminator + small soft bristle brush for heavy duty and a rubber deshedding glove for everyday “maintenance”. I should have bought all that stuff a long time ago tbh but I’m a moron. I hope Spock is ok, it’s a good thing you caught that stasis on time.

Brousse is in the early stages of stasis, won’t eat, won’t poop. Barely drinks. I mixed an apple and force fed it to her with an eyedropper while waiting for the vet. No signs of improvement so far. She’s young, I’m sure she’ll pull through but this is stressful.

Good news as well here.  Broussette got her shots and she was happily pooping all over the place this morning so all is well. I did buy a brick of pineapple juice, some critical care and gas drops to avoid staying up until 5 am and spending 200 bucks  next time this happens.

Broussette used to be very clean but since I brought her to my parent's place a while ago she's just been peeing all over the place. They have a male rabbit so I did expect her to pick up some territorial behaviors from that trip but the problem is she's not stopping and it's been over 3 months now. I've tried the usual stuff like keeping her locked up for a few days and slowly expanding her territory so she unlearns her bad habit (got a bad rabbit, yeah yeah  ) but it's not working and I'm getting tired of both sanding down my wooden floor every time I miss one of her "accidents" and leaving her locked up when she was used to hop around freely.Any tips ?

Currently when I want to limit her movements i just move some light furniture around to split my living room in 2 and setup a litter box in a corner. Note that prior to all that she used to leave some droppings here and there (fine by me) but she never peed outside her cage. Now even with an extra litter box outside she keeps leaving puddles in the corners or just outside the box. And I don't know if it's just to mark her territory considering the size of said puddles. Also she loves setting up shop in my TV bench and peeing on my Blu-rays now. I get that you hate Drive and The Green Mile, you can stop now.
