Larkin passed away in my hands. We couldn't get an appointment for her until November when we most certainly would have had her put down. I can't say for sure but it looked like she had a stroke. Her sister Lauren is distressed to say the least. Two years. Some guy found them with their mother in his garage and gave them to a shelter. Larkin was a super sweetie. She went from being the fattest rat I've ever seen, to having pretty major surgery to remove two big tumors at once, to being a sweet old lady for a lot longer than we were expecting she'd be able to.

I'm very sorry, I've had that exact scenario happen to me once before and it sucks. If it's any consolation, if she was suffering from strokes there would have been very little a vet could have done.

As harrowing as it is to have a rat pass at home, at least they passed in a place of comfort, and with their person who provided that comfort, at that. I'm sorry you had to go through that but you gave her such an awesome life and so many more chances than she would've got without you (and also that super awesome some guy who found them in their garage and did the right thing!!!)

I thought that was when you just give globs of it to them, licking off a finger should be fine? I guess you could also mix it with some baby food to thin it out, I was just suggesting it because it's relatively high calorie.
