You know, I wonder how the LEGO people reacted to James May purchasing over 3.3 million bricks to build his LEGO house.

Is that Shupp's train station at 39s in?

Maybe they make their own specialized pieces, but they are a parasite on Lego's success. Otherwise they'd succeed making their own system of brick sizes instead of needing to make pieces that fit with Lego so they can sell them to grandmothers who don't know better.

Aw man, if only I knew about that going on. I live about 40 minutes away from there. I would have gone there and checked it out. It looked pretty sweet.

Just a heads up to all you NoVA goons: the tysons corner LEGO store just ran out of the minifigs. They should be getting in another batch on Sep 1.

Also, they have the City and Castle advent calendars.

And, they have the motorized AT AT damaged box for 20% off.

As a nice, relatively easy set to do (and a case of nostalgia, my first LEGO was the Gas Transit), I bought the new gas truck. It's ~200 pieces and about $20.

Has anyone else noticed that TRU has reverse pricing? When a new set comes out, it generally goes for regular LEGO pricing. After a while, it gradually increases in price. For instance, said gas truck. I bought it at TRU for $20. Now, it's $24 at my store. The airport set started out at $100, now it's $105. It's like they're factoring in scarcity to the sets.

I grabbed 10 minifigs and got 10 different ones. But I wanted 70s porn cop and SPARTAAA!

I was wondering about the price. At the cash register I thought something was off. Weren't they $2 a piece before?

Just a heads up: TRU is having buy one get one half off until 9/11.

I was just stumbling and came across this: Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in LEGO. It's really well made.

thanks. Just picked up Public Transport 8404 and 7939 Cargo Train.

e: I'm tempted to get a bunch of each. I think 2x8404 works out to $80 a set, and 2x7939 works out to $135 a set. I think I can probably make about $30 a set profit off bricklink.
Oh god, I so want that cargo train and the passenger train. But I don't want to spend $300 on LEGO in one sitting. That public transport is nice, but I wouldn't spend that much on it. I bought the TRU cargo truck and camper.

Yeah, but only giving the LEGO stores, TRU, etc. one box every couple months sucks. I checked out the LEGO store in Tysons, and they said they'd have them in the afternoon Sept 1. When I went there at 1-2pm, they were already gone. Next shipment is sometime in October.

Just to let you know, the TRU in Fair Oaks (Fairfax, VA) just got 2 boxes of minifigs in. I perused through the 2 boxes and there was probably only one Spartan in there!

I was so tempted to nab it at the LEGO store. It's expensive, but drat does it look sweet. I have $20 in LEGO rewards points or whatever, too. I've also really been eyeing that Cargo Train set for the last week or so now.

As someone who owns the space shuttle, I have to say it's a really nice set. They could have done better with the launchpad (all it is is a flat base with some brick stands and some halogen-looking lamps).

No, poo poo like this is the problem. http://www.ecrater.com/p/8102759/lego-10184-town-plan-very-rare . This is pretty much what everyone charges for this set. It was $99.99 in stores when it was around. Same markup BS with Cafe Corner.

And the Mexican comes with an extra maraca. I only need the Pharaoh, Spartan, and pop singer to have a full set. I have tons of skiiers, weightlifters, lion tamers, Dracula's, karate masters, and surfers to trade if someone would be so kind...

That's awesome.

I went to the TRU in Fair Oaks today and they were having a bunch of sales. Many sets were 30% off plus all town/construction/space police sets were an additional 10% off that price with a free minifig with it. Also, the Harry Potter sets were out, and it looked like one or two were discounted already.

Well, you do realize the ship is 6800 pieces. If you buy a set with ~2,000 pieces, it costs around $150. So, in that case, it's not that bad of a price. Or, you could ask James May how he bought the pieces in bulk...

I need the pharoah, Spartan, and pop singer. But alas, I think my chances of those are gone and I'm sure as hell not paying scalper's prices for them.

I've gotten burned out with the minifigs. I spent way too much on them to end up with 1 full series with tons of extra minifigs I don't want and another series that is incomplete with even more extra figs. It doesn't help that it seems each store that has them only gets 1 box at a time and sells out virtually instantly. Sure, there's a few from series 3 that I'd like, but I'm only going to buy them if I come across them in a store. It's people like that in the pic Carbohydrates that ruin these things for everyone else. It was ridiculous when TRU was charging $3 a pop, but at those scalpers' prices, forget it.

With a couple modifications and a tail, that ship would look like the Decapodian spaceships.

Major sale at the LEGO online store! Buy quick because they're selling out. Don't know if they'll follow up with these prices at their brick and mortar stores after Christmas.

They're mostly sold out. :(
