Any flashbacks about Rai, the Lord, Frankenstein, and the betrayal are all more or less A-ok with me. I'm still predicting that the Lord decides Frankenstein's fate is to serve Rai so that Rai will have a friend. Not sure how it is enforced or why Frankenstein is so devoted but I bet that is how it starts. Well, I think the Lord is waaay stronger than most clan leaders, and therefore Frankenstein, so he would at least have the power to enforce it on that end. I'm more interested in how the hell he would get Rai to go along with it

I'm just saying you really should have expected it to go here at some point, since it started with that handprint.

I haven't seen it mentioned, I read it a couple weeks ago and would like to recommend Feng Shen Ji. I don't know if it's actually manhwa (I have no idea what the details of its publication are, I can't find it) but it's another absolutely gorgeous series.

Yeah you ain't seen nothing yet. It escalates about as properly as you'd expect (once you learn what the endgame is, anyway) and the art does it justice. I mean there have I guess been other series that use the story (nothing new under the sun, after all) but it's fun to read and the art is seriously gorgeous. Here's one of the panels that first wowed me (timg for huge, no real spoilers since there isn't enough context on the page to know what the gently caress)

I don't know if anyone is still following Noblesse but we are getting close to the next big battle royale and also, that last panel with Karias (had to Google his actual name) standing on Yuri's head was priceless.. The authors of Noblesse tend to have a pretty decent sense of gags like that I found. It's a pity they don't use it as much anymore, but it does stop it getting too old I guess.

Ytlaya posted:It's worth keeping in mind that at least some things are based upon ideas that have since been debunked, like Rorschach tests. Then again, this is partly because many of the ideas that have popped up during the past 100+ years in the history of psychology research have been debunked or aren't really supported by evidence. This is largely because, unlike other parts of the body, it's almost impossible to do detailed research on the brain while a person is still alive*, and human brains differ greatly from those of the other mammals we would normally use as a proxy for this sort of research, like mice/rats (which isn't to say that data from those other species isn't useful, but it's less useful than if you were looking at a different part of the body). It's a pretty fun read, I agree. As an interesting thing, my quantum mechanics professor in university was dual-appointed to the psych department. His research consists of putting little tiny electrodes into a specific type of finch's brain and administering mild currents and analyzing the effect on the song. Just feeding into the proxies thing, I guess.

I really miss the original teens and their teen doings. Who will be the bad guys if we kill all the elders? Well pretty clearly Crombell is the last boss since he's the one who got ahold of one of Frankenstein's old research journals. Should really be more careful where you put that stuff, Frank.

But they all keep super tight lipped on it. Yeah, all he has to do at this point is say "Crombell shoved a werewolf heart in me and I escaped a while ago" and this guy is going to tell people and probably check it out. Like he doesn't even have to believe M-21 or anything, he'd probably say it.

Yasser Arafatwa posted:Going to take a wild, unfounded guess that it has to do with their views/treatment of humanity. Muzaka probably prefers a control/eat? humans since they're lesser beings or whatever I'd guess, and obviously Rai is all isolationist and hands off. Or it'll end up being another comedy punchline since it does involve Rai and their disagreement was over something completely silly and inconsequential. Kinda betting on the former though, with Muzaka's dialogue in this fight he's had against the three black suits. Either I've gotten totally lost or this isn't Muzaka fighting the black suits, Muzaka is the guy that Rai actually fought. I thought this was a relatively high in the Union werewolf hierarchy, but not the Noblesse equivalent that Muzaka is.
