But his intention or information he had when he nearly destroyed the world doesn't matter. The effects of his decision have been everyone's waking lives, and oh look, he's apparently immortally young too? What a fuckin rear end in a top hat. Eventually, even in short periods of time, intention doesn't matter when the effects are so brutal and constant reminders. Hell, people either probably wish he had meant to do it so he couldn't hide behind ignorance or convinced themselves he meant it all along

Was unit ones arm broken after the battery went out or before in the first berserk sequence? I always got the sensation that the battery giving out didn't matter if the sync ratio was high enough to activate a berserk mode, because the monster under the plating was overpowering the control mechanisms. At the same time, the pilots probably get relinked too, just because of how they are. Cause arguably the battery and power is supplied to the armor and the armor is what moves and keeps the Eva in control. Of course the side benefit is the energy is used to link the pilot to the unit and allow them to control it. I don't really have a point I just like the discussion. When I first watched EVA I remember thinking berserk modes were somehow in Shinji's control albeit not very rationally. I had a similar kind of reaction to the realization that he was completely without control as I did to the idea that Sephiroth in northern crater was actually controlling Jenova. As in, I didn't like it.

I was 13 right on the tale end of 8th grade when a buddy showed me the whole series. Totally dank. That's is definitely the perfect age to share the angst train with Shinji. I do appreciate the rebuilds highlighting how selfish he acts when pushed to his limits and how he's on the tract to becoming his father. Not that this was exactly underplayed in the series, but I think it was the scene in rebuild 1 where he's begging to pilot Eva unit 1 has a totally different tone than the series. Less self pitying? but that pity isn't replaced with a self confidence or arrogance, but a kind of justification, or hope, that by doing so he'll achieve that confidence or whatever

Gendo basically has those lines under his eyes and that's all he needs to drive home how unhinged he looks. The glasses kinda hide that feature, and it's really present in the flashback. Good poo poo.

So I made these last May. I have no idea where to put them so I'm putting them here. I'd been chewing on this kind of cross for a long time as I was introduced to this album the same year I was introduced to Evangelion. Specifically, the images for Blue Monday felt strongest, but the rest of the album came from the same kind of place. It was a fun exercise, at the very least. I wanted to do all 12 songs, but the two omitted were very... difficult to work with so I just skipped them. These aren't really presented in any particular order. is unit 2 unstable? i thought the reasoning for her mom being cold and uncaring and unstable was because her “maternal” aspect of her soul was embedded in unit 2? unless this like WILD conjecture (which writing it now im sure it is ) i never was struck by unit 2 as being unstable

after having watched the netflix dub twice in the last year It was kinda weird going back to Spike spencer’s Shinji in rewatching rebuild 1… he sounds slightly whinier? but by rebuild 2 he’s grown on me again.
