I drove across Wyoming today and saw 16 eagles. Nine were mature bald eagles but the rest could be either golden or juvenile balds. It’s hard to tell at highway speed.

I saw a flock of 20 or so Mountain Bluebirds today. They were hanging around waiting out the snow storm.

I saw a migrating flock of snow geese today. That made a nice change from all the Canada Geese that I usually see!

I was working on my electric goat fence and I startled a robin off her nest. She made it right next to the fence charger so hopefully that will keep the local feral cats away. I moved that red wire so it won’t be in her way anymore.

I saw a flock of meadowlarks yesterday. It was strange, I usually only see them as ones and maaaaybe twos. (And I see usually find a couple of nests in early summer )

Shifty Nipples posted:After many months I think I figured out the answer to this mystery, I think the bird I keep seeing is a Northern Flicker - https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Northern_Flicker/id For a few years we lived in the breeding territory of a very defensive Flicker. He would try to fight his reflection in car side mirrors. He also aggressively pooped on those enemy birds. It was pretty funny when it wasn’t my car.
