Literature is not exhaustible, for the sufficient and simple reason that no single book is. A book is not an isolated being: it is a relationship, an axis of innumerable relationships.

If George Washington saw the Federal Reserve, he'd be rolling in his grave!

And if he saw what was happening in Colorado and Washington, he'd be rolling sick blunts.

The calls to authority via stebe keep reminding me of this anecdote about the espn phone:

quote:

The story goes that ESPN president George Bodenheimer attended the first Disney board meeting in Orlando, Florida, just after the company had bought Pixar, the innovative animation factory, and spotted Apple CEO Steve Jobs in a hallway. It seemed like a good time to introduce himself. “I am George Bodenheimer,” he said to Jobs. “I run ESPN.” Jobs just looked at him and said nothing other than “Your phone is the dumbest loving idea I have ever heard,” then turned and walked away.

the best part of that anecdote was that stebe was 100% correct. the espn phone was an amazingly terrible idea that cost espn billions of dollars

theres a similar anecdote about stebe reacting to the first demonstration of the segway. he arrives late, leaves early, repeatedly interrupts the presentation, and bluntly declares that the device, while technologically clever and possessing a spark of world-changing potential, had a design that sucked and was too expensive and would never be more than a niche product without a lot of rethinking. he was an rear end in a top hat, but he was also almost always right.

a lot of really smart and talented people make really bad life decisions because they're used to knowing better than most people when it comes to their chosen field, and think that it extends outside it

really, really smart people know when to shut up and listen to other experts

You are too young to remember the similar apple computer commercial. Just do a youtube search for 1984 apple and then you will see the parody.

+ChickenTikiMasala Nope, I've seen it. It's just this animation was absolutely horrible, and did they really need to use some stupid anime-looking girl as the girl with the sledge hammer? The animation is just plain bad, and makes it look cheesy. It sucks.

It's probably valid. Vanity address generators just keep generating addresses until they get an address that starts with a specified phrase.
