the best part of that anecdote was that stebe was 100% correct. the espn phone was an amazingly terrible idea that cost espn billions of dollars

theres a similar anecdote about stebe reacting to the first demonstration of the segway. he arrives late, leaves early, repeatedly interrupts the presentation, and bluntly declares that the device, while technologically clever and possessing a spark of world-changing potential, had a design that sucked and was too expensive and would never be more than a niche product without a lot of rethinking. he was an rear end in a top hat, but he was also almost always right.
