I'm watching without audio for various reasons. Was that apparent knockdown he got early on counted as a slip or something? Either way Kovalev is outpointing him like mad. Hopkins is putting up one hell of a fight but unless he gets a KO out of nowhere (not happening) he'll have to focus on just surviving the fight.

Yeah I mostly asked because and I looked at my excel sheet score card and furrowed my brow at the column of 10s.

BHop is old. I wanted BHop to win, which is loving weird. I've rooted against him for as long as I can remember. He fights dirty. He doesn't encompass and embody everything that boxing has to offer. He doesn't dominate by skill and power. He dominates by being a dirty, lovely fighter. I still wanted to see him win. Against the odds, I wanted to see him win. That'll tell you everything you need to know about the state of boxing today. I was rooting for an rear end in a top hat of a fighter, because he was the devil I knew.

1-I'm pretty sure this fight result was sealed when Hopkins had the mindset that Kovalev had Frankenstein footwork, and they showed Kovalev doing awesome Pilates. 2-impressive win by Kovalev. Incredibly patient. 3-what kind of chin does Hopkins have? That was amazing, if a little disturbing to watch in round 12 4-seriously if Stevenson doesn't face Kovalev I will be...mildly perturbed. It's boxing, after all.

After the 1st round knockdown it looked like Hopkins game plan changed to "don't get killed". And Stevenson isn't going anywhere near Kovalev. He barely survived against boxcar Jimmy in his most recent fight and Kovalev would KO him by the 2nd round

I went to the fight and it was awesome. If you are considering going to a fight I would jump on it. Just a flat out great time. The undercard was atrocious. We got there around 7 and it was wasted time. The first undercard fight was OK (not sure who it was), then this guy Wright lasted like 55 seconds. He looked like he was on ice skates and almost took the classic royal rumble over the top rope bump 45 seconds in. Each fight lasted like 2 rounds and then it was 45 minutes of bsing around, which meant we drank too many beers since there was nothing else to do. The energy in the building was awesome once the TV cameras came on. It was easily the most diverse crowd I have ever been in at a sporting event, and probably my entire life. It was probably 40% white, 40% black, and maybe 20% european/Russian. Everyone was cool as poo poo. We talked to a lot of people walking around between fights. I saw Danny Garcia walking in with a smoking hot chick. He was giving people fist pumps and joking around with fans who approached him. I have to rewatch it on TV because we partied so hard the night before I was still half out of commission, plus we were partying there as well. The 12th round was hard to watch. Boardwalk Hall is a great venue seating wise, I went up to the top row of the top section to see what it was like and the seat still would have been fine. The scoreboard and speakers are terrible though. You could not understand a single word the announcers said. The scoreboard doesn't show round times either. There was a huge brawl in the stands during the 2nd round of the Hopkins fight. There were two empty rows of seats down on the lower level and my friends and I were joking all night they were for the Russian Mafia. Then right before the main event like 15 dudes in track suits rolled in. 10 minutes later they were in a brawl. I think they were just fighting each other. I am not sure what happened. It took security forever to get there and break it up too. Also, I have never been to such a poorly staffed venue in my entire life. There were no ushers, the beer guys were like 80 and pouring like 1 beer a minute, and security was inept. I did learn I am too old to rage two nights in a row. I left the casino at 5am the first night, promised myself I wouldn't do it again, and then crushed that lie by leaving 7am last night. My friends and I were wrecked today. If I would have driven the first leg we probably would have died and I was in the second best condition out of anyone. If I go to another fight I am not arriving in AC until Saturday and I am throwing myself out of the casino at at 3am. Thank god those monsters are 8 hours away from where I live.

This is precisely why he owns bones, actually. Blac Flair is a million and is still semi-kinda-relevant because he's a loving total genius of dirty fighting. It's refreshingly Out There when pro sport is so laden with dudes who insist on winning via skill and athleticism.

I went to see the Broner/Taylor (supposed to be) mismatch, and I had an awesome time even with it being an Al Haymon Mismatch Card of the Week event. Live boxing is excellent, and I wish I could find a way to see a fight at the Stubhub Center some day.

Actually looking forward to Klitschko vs Pulev, which is not something you can usually say for a Wladimir Klitschko fight, both due to his awful jab-clinch-lean style and the fact that the usual Klitschko opponent is about as formidable as I am (I'm 6'1 205 though so I qualify). But Pulev is a legit top 3 pro heavyweight, undefeated, with a great amateur pedigree, and most importantly, he's almost as big as Klitschko at 6'5 250. If he had power this would be an absolute must watch fight, as it is it's intriguing, just because Wlad hasn't fought someone this good, big, and young in... well he's never fought someone with all 3 of those attributes. Even Corrie Sanders was old and basically a part time fighter when he beat Wlad. Corrie did have fast hands and great power though.... If Wlad can beat Pulev, he's angling to unify the last belt in the division that he doesn't own, which should have a definitive holder in the first quarter of 2015 (the winner of Deontay Wilder and Bermane Stiverne). So the heavyweight division is looking up after about a decade of dreary sadness. Wlad should be looking to run a gauntlet of Pulev, Tyson Fury, and the Stiverne/Wilder winner from now until the end of 2015, which are actually all interesting heavyweight fights (more so if Wilder beats Stiverne).
