What a nice episode of Hirogaru Sky! I really liked this one. For all Mashiro had the weakest transformation, the story has been quite kind to her.

A Japanese TV guide shows an episode of Hirogaru airing on January 28th, meaning the 48 episode count was wrong and the series will end the same time as usual with 50 episodes total (which makes more sense honestly)

And with that, Otona is over. That was alright for the most part and I liked that Splash Star finally got some love after all this time, not sure what the point of shoving Futari Wa in at the end ultimately was though since we never see them out of uniform and it's only vaguely implied what they're doing now (conservation work I assume). That said, apparently the Kamikita twins did a sketch of the Futari gang as adults. Anybody got a link to that out of curiosity? Hope we start getting some Maho Girls 2 info soon Edit: Found it:

Because the series composition writer tends to focus on putting the female characters in terribly written het relationships. At least Satoru is Iroha’s classmate, though, and not older like Coco and Blue.

In non Precure related news, apparently someone has not only fansubbed the Sailor Moon Cosmos movies but also combined them together into one.  Gotta say, Cure Sephiroth was not on my bingo card but it was a nice twist on the standard last minute powerup. As for the episode itself: And the truth is revealed, Skearhead is the one who murdered the Emperor and implanted false memories into Undergu in order to turn her into his vessel. He then goes onto say he’s actually Darkhead, the true source of Undergu energy and was manipulating her from the start. He lures the Cures into the heart of the empire’s domain and they make their way through while Butterfly and Wing stay behind to hold an army of Ranborgs at bay. By the time they reach Darkhead only the starting duo remains. During the fight Darkhead manages to manipulate Sora’s anger by using Mashiro as a hostage and tricking her into using the power of Undergu energy on herself. The (cure) sky turns dark (as well as gaining one of the coolest looking Evil Cure forms I’ve seen in this franchise) and becomes the new vessel. However, Mashiro gets her second wind and with a little help from Sora’s determination is able to save her partner as well as heal the Empress. Doesn’t seem like it’s over just yet though as Darkhead comes back as a big snake and the final battle continues into the grand finale Larryb fucked around with this message at 03:14 on Jan 21, 2024 |

Does Sora’s corrupted form have an official name out of curiosity? All Stars F is out and subbed now should anyone want to track it down (it was done by Serenae in case you need to know what to look for) Edit: English subs are out as mentioned and I finally got around to watching this, that was a legitimately fun movie that featured a poo poo ton of cameos (basically every Cure/Cure adjacent ally appears in some form) and went pretty hard in places, I’m glad we’re getting this and the Hirogaru finale in the same week. I’m also impressed by their restraint at not giving Futari a bigger role than they did (especially since they wound up shoehorning them into Otona), the initial teams we saw in the trailers/promo material are basically the primary characters for the whole movie Also the Supreme twist is telegraphed pretty early on if you’re paying attention (she has a very violent fighting style that includes straight up obliterating her foes and one of the first things she says upon meeting Sora’s group is “You seriously don’t remember?”. Also Puka’s first recovered memory is Supreme throwing her to the ground). Making the movie Cure the villain who literally killed most of the others (though they of course get better) was also an interesting angle though Puka ends up taking her place as a Cure when the truth is revealed Kind of a pity they didn’t make a joke about how Mashiro and Rabirin sound almost exactly the same though (what with them being played by the same VA and all). There were some fun teamups during the final battle though and that was probably the least intrusive way to use the Miracle Lights since the HeartCatch movie. My only real complaint is that I wish it was a little longer (there wasn’t as much time devoted to the various makeshift teams as I expected and the twist comes about halfway into the movie) Larryb fucked around with this message at 06:25 on Jan 25, 2024 |
