Crystal 1 and 2 is pretty much just the manga animated so it was never going to be as good as the 90's show even if Toei wasn't doing way to many projects and having it affect the quality of all them (Hi Happiness Charge Precure). Crystal 3 actually was allowed to have some fun shots so it's actually pretty okay though not as good as S. I want them to try and animate Stars Manga cause it'd be a hell of a trip

As much as I do want them to do Manga SuperS and Stars for Crystal I don't want them stealing staff from Precure so I can wait. Or they could just put the Live Action on a streaming service!

Even if the production wasn't a mess or if they had a good director in the end Crystal Series 1 probably would of still been a mess to watch. Takeuchi wanted a 1 for 1 version of the manga as an anime and welp, the Manga really does have some rough spots and issues to it that the original anime glossed over. So while Chiaki Kon being a good director helped the third season and Toei not being overworked I think the fact everyone knew they had to actually adapt things also helped a bunch. I still want them to use actual Precure style fights for StarS and Super. Just cause it'd be cool and it'd also annoy some Sailor Moon fans.

They are stand alone except for Heartcatch and Kira Kira which do work into the main series. You should 100% watch at least the Heartcatch, Yes and Maho Girls movies as they are all really good. Heartcatch movie is probably the best anime Rie Matsumoto has directed and Yes does the dark clone plot the best

Heartcatch's movie gets referenced in the final fight and Kira Kira's movie is set up by episode 37. So watch Heartcatch before the final arc and Kira after episode 37. Every other Precure movie can be watched when ever though the best time is usually after the mid-season climax episode but before the final arc. Also if you want to see the origin of the No Precure can fight another Precure rule watch the second Futari Wa movie and see Toei screw up the Black vs White fight so bad it caused kids to cry!

The funny thing is Toei has used Hero vs Hero fighting as a plot point in Sentai/Rider/Sailor Moon before and pulled it off without kids crying but they had to go with an actual MMA style fight that looked like Black and White were trying to hurt each other. The fight is probably the most pure physical magical girl fight ever too TBH Oh well, Toei adapted and we got Dark Dream/Dark Precure/Eas instead so it worked out in the end

The only streaming season are the original on CR which is 90's VHS fansub quality and the two dubbed Glitter Force season on Netflix. As for why those are the only seasons?Crunchyroll has tried to pick it up but either Toei wants somebody to pick up the rights to all the season or they want it to be an actual kids show dub like Glitter Force (see also Toei and the Kamen Rider series). Toei's been a lot better at letting there shows get streamed in English but Precure still seems to be stuck in this void which is annoying given how good the last few seasons have been

Live action starts out being very faithful to the manga but soon does it's own thing very quickly and has the most unique Dark Kingdom story arc of any Sailor Moon. Also Sailor Luna

The All Stars films are a mixed bag quality wise, the first and third are fun movies but not too deep. Last years crossover was quite good cause they cut the Precure cast down to 3 series which helped a lot. Rest range from watchable to kinda of bleah, except All stars 2 which I will forever dislike for how it treats Michiru and Karou Smile is very good and has some great episodes but the tone shift for the mid-season and late season climax is huge whiplash tone wise compared to every other Precure series ever and doesn't really fit the series as a whole. Also it tries to redo a few Yes Precure 5 plots and doesn't quite do them as well as Yes does Bad End Precure are nowhere near as good as Dark Dream was But than the Reika focused episode is probably one of the best just cause Reika beats Joker up way better than Batman ever could
