It's pretty much just Coachella and the East Coast for the US, it seems. At least we get to see these sets!

Hubba hubba, my Green Album box set just turned up. Haven't had a chance to listen yet, but I've gone through the 60-page book. It's mostly photos, but there's a reproduction of the newspaper story about a 20 year old Paul being beaten up by coppers at an acid house party that got him interviewed by World in Action and soundbite interviews for each track that have a few interesting snippets in them. (For example, I didn't know that one of the remixes of Choice features the drummer from the Alabama 3.) I was also quite surprised to find three replica flyers from early 90s raves tucked into it.

Does Massive Attack fit in here? I didn't know if there was a trip-hop thread.

Anyway, Mezzanine turns 26 years old today. Absolutely unreal album.

I just heard a little while ago that it is rumoured that one of the Massive Attack dudes (3D) is Banksy, thought that was pretty wild.

4/20 is an embarrassment of riches

Finally pulled the trigger on tonight's festivities with Recycled Funk/Floozies tix, but Ternion Sound/Widdler/Distinct Motive are playing down the way so we may end up there as well

Have fun and be safe to anybody else taking in some kicks and wubs this weekend

Didn't recognize a lot of artists on Friday other than Gorgon City, but the Coachella Yuma stream was a lot of fun. And it's off to a good start today too:

I changed channels and I'm watching Blur now, though.

LMAO she still managed to trainwreck. Just embarrassing. Honestly with a week to prepare, just program a premade set like every other DJ at Coachella and try to have fun on stage. That's the whole gig. Leave live mixing to the professionals.

Watching Anyma now, who I was not at all familiar with other than knowing that they're in a relationship with Grimes now.

According to Wikipedia:

quote:

Anyma's debut EP, Claire, was released in June 2021 on Rose Avenue Records[5][6][7] and featured collaborations with Janus Rasmussen and Delhia de France.[8][9] The title track was accompanied by the world's first full-size and full-definition NFT music video

Halcyon is always in the middle of the set to provide a bit of cooldown before the crescendo. I didn't see all of the set, but I've seen the list and it starts with four hardcore bangers, settles in the middle with Nothing Left (Part 2), Oxygene and Halcyon, then dips into the classics before peaking with Impact and Lush 3-1/3-2.

I'm also not really feeling the new popstar direction, but I'll reserve judgement until we get the whole album. Still signed up for presale tickets to the world tour today.

Moonlight Rendez-vous is like a soul song from decades ago with sub bass

e: Okay, after the first listen, it's a cool album but definitely not my favorite Justice album. Honestly, I was hoping for more tracks like Generator, but I guess that's not what this album is. The production on the album is pretty interesting, though. I'll listen again tomorrow.
