It switches so hard between emotional drama to goofy whimsical poo poo, and the violence goes from "horrifying American History X" to "haha it's like Tarantino but with dolls" that I wonder how bad it is in the actual movie. "How do we approach this tragic topic?" "Let's just have fun with it!"

Dillbag posted:I have it on good authority that Godzilla has been a nightmare to work on because the director just lets the camera roll all day without cutting hoping to mine gold out of 15 hours of tire fire footage a day and editorial / VFX are quitting left right and center. That seems insane for a movie that's got to be largely effects shots and pure CG. It only makes sense to me to extensively plan that. By the way, any reason Gamera isn't in it, rights difficulties maybe?

Combined with the singing this feels like just such a classic animation bit, like Disney fron the 50s-60s. Even if the movie ends up being poo poo, I'll look back on this trailer with joy.

While Venom has a pretty substantial solo career at this point, it seems like a really bad move to not start him in a Spidey movie. Though maybe there'll be some top secret third act Tom Holland cameoing?

Obviously wanting to see more Furiosa, and maybe Max also I guess, I'm totally biased. But Fury Road was a big success. Is screwing a director out of a prospected bonus going to net you more money than having him make you two more probable cash cows?

I do not want to spend 2 hours with that guy. I would spend my life with Jason Momoa. The long action scene with Manta on the rooftops looks great. Do agree that it gives the impression that the third act'll be an exhausting cgi slogfest though.

I mostly love period piece horror because it's so rare. Watched the Apostle on netflix last night and while it was light on the horror, it was fun. I remember once renting the wild west ghost house movie Dead Birds years ago, but can't remember much beyond finding it confusing.
