Jeffrey Verrege passed away. He did some really amazing art for Sci-fi stuff blended with his coast Salish art, including Alien (Which I have an amazing print of).

He was good friends with a close friend of mine, which is how I got to know if his works. There's a lot of really cool stuff in his collections, and you guys should check them out.

Aw my condolences. 50 is way too young for such a talent too.

Just finished Into Charybdis. It is good. Lots of silly little call-backs to Aliens. I liked it well enough to read through in one sitting, which is rare for me nowadays. Strong recommend if you are thinking about Aliens (the movie).

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have nightmares.

I wake up choking for the third time that night. my wife insists I stop wrapping the air hose around my neck. I tell her I did not spend $400 on this to be inauthentic.

Trip report. I've been introducing my daughter to the Alien franchise.

Alien: "It was really good, scary and mysterious."

Aliens: "So good, the best one! Favourite character was Hudson (of course)."

Alien III: "Very different, didn't like the ending".

Allen Resurrection: "Ripley was the coolest. Felt bad for the monster at the end."

Prometheus: "The squid and the white guys were freaky."

Covenant: "When do we watch it?".

Great success I think. Terminator is next.

Amazing. Just turning the whole parental instinct to say "I know it was scary but it was a made up story with puppets and special effects" right on its head. "Oh yeah face rape crab? In the vastness of the galaxy who knows? I need you to keep your head on a swivel in case you grow up to be a Skylab astronaut."

"Daddy told me there are monsters. Real ones. And there are, aren't there?"

I saw Alien in the theater with Dad and I am still traumatized from "Dallas in the Ducts" scene. I must have jumped four feet out of my seat.

I'm gonna suggest getting the kid to see Prey sooner rather than later. Terminator is all well and good, but watching a young woman take down an alien monster is something she's gonna love.
