It was the very first trailer for the game that showed actual characters, so they had to also include it in the finished game to get their money's worth I suppose. Though it's the first appearance of a persona and the metaverse navigator app in the game so it never really stuck out to me as a non sequitur. On the contrary I kind of feel like it's a waste when a game makes an expensive pre-release CG trailer and it isn't included in some form in the game.
