As a plural system with DID, I found certain characters in Nona (and to a lesser extent, Harrow) relatable and jarring in equal measure.

That would check out, considering the author's note following Harrow.

I had a dream about Palamedes and Abigail discussing linguistic wordplay in TLT, but the only thing I remember is that "Alecto" was also "al-Ecto", making her literally The Other.

Which is why all of humanity can and should kill the man who became God and the God who became man in self-defense.

Guys as careful as John don't have accidents.

That brief mask-off moment in Nona has killed any benefit of doubt that I might have given him, and no amount of thanergy is going to resurrect it. I know that type of predator all too well: someone who hides their abuse behind a fumbling persona, while knowing exactly what they are doing and reveling in it.

Well yes he's a terrible person, but do you know anyone better for the job
That job should not exist in the first place and anyone willing (or worse, wanting) to take it is utterly unfit for it.

(Unless they're Noodle. Noodle can do it, as a treat.)

John is brilliant because everything about him is so charming but he's like like Hitler x10,000 in pure objective evil terms
I do not find him charming. I find him extremely creepy. And purely evil, of course.

To Jod's claim that he is necessary to keep the sun burning, I say that he can do that job just fine from inside said sun.

I just realized that it's a retelling of the Orpheus/Eurydice myth, except Orpheus doesn't turn around and so a vengeful shade named John murders Euridyce in an attempt to shank Orpheus as he takes the last step out.

You know, you can accuse John of many things, but being a capitalist is not one of them I suppose.
The endgame of capitalism is the world's richest man enthroned on a mountain of corpses and extracted resources.

John Gaius is that man.

My Dune analogy for John is "Leto II if he floated up from the chasm, declared "*I* am the Golden Path", and incinerated Siona and Duncan on the spot (plus all Tleilaxu propaganda about his sexual proclivities was spot on)".
