The mega threads are where the actual pros in those trades hang out or keep bookmarked, and where posters should go for the most thorough answer to their questions. I've seen a lot of bad info passed out about trade-specific stuff in the fix it fast thread, and it may not get caught in time because of the pace of that thread.

Threre is absolutely no reason to read any megathread front to back for an answer, or be intimidated, and to my knowledge any questions are answered in turn with no snarky "you could Google that" or "search this thread" type responses.

That's a long form version of my opinion that at least the Wiring, plumbing, and HVAC threads should be stickied cause few are gonna pop in here and read your (very thoughtful and thorough) OP.
