I see nobody mentioned Dominic Noble , in his own words a mildly sarcastic British man with expressive eyebrows who reviews books and books' adaptations. He seems like a very cool guy. After JKR went full terf he uploaded the video saying trans rights, Rowling is a shithead and that he won't be reviewing anything HP related. He always calls out misogyny, depictions of sexual assault and cultural appropriation/whitewashing whenever that's relevant. And he has a lovely cat called Sir Terry Pratchett

oh boy, an Among Us collabo with a bunch of huge youtubers and the game grumps. Dan is adorable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dl8S2yCZIg&hd=1 spoilers for goings-on in the video: Dan being the helpless puppy that everyone wants to protect backfires spectacularly when he becomes the imposter, and everyone who wants to make sure he doesn't IMMEDIATELY get murdered and follows him around to make sure he's never alone, means he can't murder anyone else because multiple other people are always following him

Both guys on it are legitimate experts too, which helps keep it moving and they're able to explain it reasonably well. Sometimes I have to pause and go back to try and follow some of the more weirder arcane stuff that's happening but it's generally easy to keep up with in spite of the difficulty of some of the puzzles they do. It also helps that very few are just regular sudoku and instead have some other rules and restrictions that keep things interesting and fun. Also Simon looks a lot like my dad, and that made me have to do a double take a few times at first.

I don't play fighting games often but I find his stuff very compelling. In a similar vein, I'd also recommend Hold Back to Block, a fighting game channel that does documentaries and interviews with various people within the community. The big video that some people in the thread will be familiar with is the Killer Instinct documentary (which got a decent push from big names in the community, and got Killer Instinct trending on Twitter earlier this year), but there's some other stuff, including interviews with other YouTubers in this thread. Also, some of the other YouTubers in the collab have posted videos of what happened on their end on their own channels, so you can see what Alanah, Ethan, and Ross were doing while Arin was doing his thing.

Jenny's twitter is good because of the insane poo poo she sometimes runs into by following theme park news, which has recently been dominated by lunatics like the family that clearly had covid and streamed themselves at Disneyland coughing so much they vomited multiple times while ordering food and arguing with the comments on their stream about how they didn't have covid, all before angrily cutting the stream because everyone kept telling them to go to the doctor immediately. Maggie Mae Fish also has a pretty good twitter--and speaking of which, is Maggie Mae Fish not in the OP? I would put in a word for her to be added.

I recently discovered Grimbeard, a self-aware "goth gamer" that does super chill Game Dungeon-style short reviews of mostly horror and adventure games. He also makes industrial music if that's your sort of thing. Also, Cybershell has recently returned after a long hiatus, doing ridiculously deep dives on Sonic the Hedgehog games and fandom. I don't even like Sonic and I listened to this guy talk about Chao Gardens for over an hour.

Some channels that haven't been mentioned yet. Alphabetical order, but Accented Cinema is my top pick. Accented Cinema Asian movies, primarily Chinese. Cinema Nippon Plucky channel that keeps pumping out videos nobody watches. Deepfocuslens She just sits and reviews movies with some notes and the occasional jump cut. Eyebrow Cinema Videos about movies and stuff. The Maniac Exploitation and horror. Feels like a throwback to the Channel Awesome era of video reviews but without the worst parts. The Royal Ocean Film Society Also videos about movies and stuff. Strange Æons Bit of an edge case but the book videos and tumblr deep dives qualify. I wanna talk about ______ Works! Jeremy Parish is a guy who is cataloging old Nintendo games (and recently lots of end-stage Atari games from like, the Lynx and 7800 and such) going through each of the games, providing captured footage and talking about the history of the game, which range from the games that everyone is familiar with (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc) and the games that have been forgotten to time (Chubby Cherub???). I dived through a good portion of his channel during the pandemic and he's still regularly releasing videos, and at the end of each series he publishes books with high-quality pictures of the hardware/carts and the information from the videos that all look very nice. If you're into retro gaming, especially Nintendo, this is the series for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qUZ6uNN_t8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvrzESikyTw I'll also rep for a slightly smaller channel that I watch as regularly as he puts things out: Diamond Axe Studios. The first video of his was a compilation of Todd in the Shadows' incredibly wrong predictions over the decade of his videos (it comes from a place of love, you can tell that Todd is who he has modeled his videos after), and he does a lot of the same sort of pop music stuff, switching between ranking classic billboard lists and current music, plus some grab bag reviews suggested by Patreon subscribers. Sometimes when he's talking about things he really doesn't like he has a tendency to go into moralizing that I'm not always a fan of (oh man whenever he talks about Lil Wayne my butthole clenches) but he's really good at talking about music that he likes, even when it's something that isn't necessarily popular (his most recent video had a very good defense of a Lewis Capaldi song, which surprised me because Lewis Capaldi is terrible but he was able to compare it to the other Lewis Capaldi song that everyone rightfully hates and show why this one is different and better) Here's his newest 2020 hits video, it's largely positive and a good look into the state of pop music of the moment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYCEaIEAfI0 DC Murderverse fucked around with this message at 22:56 on Oct 20, 2020 |

I want to second the Billiam recommendation (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcHBw_Rs56RFcisYAOlFfmQ) He's a cool dude that goes over weird or also-ran 90s media (a good chunk of it is Pokemon clones, but there's also stuff like the bizarre The Future is Wild, Winx Club, Sonic movies, Digimon, etc) and odd toys/gadgets like robot pets or the SpyEye. I've watched tons of his videos and I've never seen any kind of chud behavior. There's also Dead Meat (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2IYWWifoIht9T47z1Z5lJw), who does funny/informative summaries of horror movies/shows. He goes into behind-the-scenes commentary to tell you about how certain effects or stunts were done. He also has a great podcast co-produced with his fiancee, Chelsea, who does a ton of cool research for it. They are great people too - James makes a point of pointing out racism, sexism, transphobia, etc. in the movies he reviews. An all around great channel if you're into horror or would like to watch what a movie is about but can't muster the courage for actually watching it yourself.
