What’s up, before covid I had a small side business selling vintage furniture, design items and clothes, so I developed an interior design method where I would buy a piece at an estate sale or auction or wherever, live with it for a while, and either keep or sell based on how well it fit. I don’t end up with many questions that need answering this way, but I like to chat about design so I’m usually posting random things about extremely specific designers, trends among established design houses and the vintage design market, or IDing the chairs in Zillow pics.

Someone in the last thread posted about the apartment from Coming to America which motivated me to buy this neon lamp from Facebook marketplace. It’s unmarked, but is very high quality as far as neon lamps go, has an enameled metal conical base and a 14” diameter ruby red neon tube. I have no idea who made it, but it’s probably from the mid to late 1980s and has a Ron Arad vibe. It’s surely not actually by Arad, but it’s a keeper.

This is awesome

I have no idea what that cabinet to the left of the sink is, but I know that pull thing is just waiting for knees to destroy

I assume it’s a trash drawer. The faucet is also trash. The window and its frame are trash. The ceiling is trash. The counters are trash. The barn doors with corners cut so you can see the framing of the closet/room behind them are trash. The floor is trash. The white enamel farm sink is trash. The lighting is trash. The stovetop without a vent hood is trash. The different finishes on the pulls of the cabinets are trash. The big cabinet is trash. The paneling sucks big time and is also trash.

My interior suggested that I not have more than three colors/tones due to the smaller size and also have the cabinets be a brighter color since there is no natural light. The three are blue (with gray undertone) gray white. That plus brown is the palette for my whole place. Not sure what else you could even do there.

I think it looks great.

I hate this house so loving much. Especially the hideous cinderblock wall in the middle of the living room/kitchen. Also who wouldn't want a giant, rusty bench vise available for use on their kitchen counter 24/7???

The wall of this bathroom appear to be painted OSB, a material well known for its resiliance to moisture:

The focal point of this room is a pile of wood. No, there is no fireplace. Only wood.

Rents for $250/night on AirBNB.

Lol at the open ducts just blowing air with no direction.

The last “room” looks like a screened in porch. The wood burning stove appears to be on the other side of that wall.

Cool balsa wood stairs

This whole house probably cost $50,000 to build.

It's early morning, and so quiet, bird calls come and go with the arrival of the day. Awakening slowly, the waters splashing over the rocks create a harmonious background symphony; it is so relaxing. I feel peacefully rested after a great sleep. And now I wander the grassy paths taking in the beauty that surrounds me here in early June. And the first rays of light touch upon the myriad dew drops hanging from every leaf edge; tiny rainbows glisten. A sense of wonder sparks my imagination and I feel like I ought to see Monet entering these gardens at any moment to set up his easel, and canvas so that he can capture this magical spectrum of flowers while the day is young. The Iris all around me beg for the attention of an artist's impression. What luck to have come across this hidden jewel hidden among the woodlands of rural Maine. Waterfalls, acres of gardens, and a Victorian Tiny House all captivate my imagination. I love that this tiny Victorian fits into the landscape framed within the verdant arboreal canopy. Memories of childhood frolicking surface, and I smile.
