How I think of it is: cursed energy/techniques are shown to be a very instinctual thing. You either have the talent for it and get it right away or you have to work extremely hard at it. See Fushiguro still struggling with barrier techniques while Higuruma got it in about a week. It was hard enough for Gojo to learn how to use RCT on himself, and required him getting stabbed in the throat before he finally got it, so I assume using it on others the way Shoko and Okkotsu do is something he still needs to work at.

One thing I might have forgotten or missed, how is Rika back now?

They talk about it a bit in the last chapter, but my understanding is that the original Rika was a girl that got possessed by Yuta's technique, but now this Rika is just his technique without being used to accidentally possess a little girl

Yes. So much so that every time I have tried to enter a pachinko hall as a gaijin, i have been politely shuffled out the door because they know its wildly hard to comprehend and navigate. It's basically cricket to me, you'll only really get it if you grew up with it.

pachinko parlors are also a cacophony of light and sound from the moment you walk in. I have been to raves more tranquil than pachinko parlors

You also have to remember that even before Yuji became a vessel he wasn’t exactly a normal human being, so he might not be playing by the same rules as everyone else

Nobara's technique seems like it'd be really useful for loving with Geto's big complicated web of interlocked techniques so that's my guess as to what they'll do with her whenever or however she returns.

Worst case scenario is that she's actually dead/going to be dead but they have some weird way of preserving her technique to use it

The big thing I’m expecting is Nobara’s technique to get Geto’s soul back into his body somehow, which would really gently caress Kenjaku up

I'm rereading the manga as, like others, I lost track of the details during the latest arc. I was checking the wiki for something and noticed that the next chapter is called Fearsome Womb part 5 - part 4 is chapter 9, where Sukuna beats the poo poo out of Megumi, asks him why he ran from the Special grade and Yuji "dies." Not a surprise or anything but pretty much a confirmation about what's happening.

edit: is there any consensus on what Itadori's cursed technique might be? the way the same language is used when he fights both Choso and Todo is clearly intentional but I wonder where the story will go with it

I think that was a fakeout to get people to speculate that Itadori's technique was implanting false memories in people's heads. Wayyyy back at the beginning of the series Gojo mentions that he would inherit Sukuna's technique someday, but idk if they dropped that plotline or not, it's never really come up since.

Personally, since his mom's technique was anti-gravity, I think his technique may have something to do with that. Maybe he's been unintentionally putting himself under DBZ style gravity training his whole life and been completely unaware of it, which is why he's so drat strong.

An idea I was kicking around on a walk earlier is that Kenjaku and Sukuna aren't allies. What if Kenjaku wants to control Sukuna instead of allowing him to run free. Everyone seemed pretty shocked that Yuji could control his body even after incarnating. Kenjaku thanked the girl from chapter 1 for looking after his son. We also know that (according to Kenjaku) Yuji swallowing the finger was no accident. My assumption previously had been that Yuji's body was created specially to house Sukuna. I think it'd be cool if it wasn't planned for Yuji to be a vessel but instead to be a prison for Sukuna. So Kenjaku could much more easily control have access to Sukuna's power. I wonder what would happen for example if Kenjaku brain hopped to Yuji. It'd be crazy if now Kenjaku ended up having to try and get Sukuna back into Yuji.

Me too. I feel like if they were direct allies they'd have been able to communicate by now in some way. I assume Uraume is just hanging with Kenjaku as someone from the Heian era rather than being part of their cause/group really.

I like this theory because Tengen had mutated enough to become susceptible to cursed spirit manipulation. Sukuna is definitely the same type of being

Instead of hijacking yuji’s body he could just enslave him
