It's a British slang word for girl or woman. It is derogatory, but probably the mildest option. Vaporising sea water with the ion cannon might actually be helpful. The vapor is going to condense back as rain. Notably, freshwater rain, so as long as the rain fall over a blue zone it's just hideously inefficient desalination. On the other hand, warmer water is what leads to more hurricanes and tornadoes, so I fail to see how heating it up further would be helpful.

Groetgaffel posted:It's a British slang word for girl or woman. "Bint" is actually an Arab word, which passed into British English. It literally means "daughter". Like "Muhammad bin Salman" is "Muhammad, son of Salman". So, "Charles bin Philip" would be "Charles, son of Philip". And "Anne bint Philip" would be "Anne, daughter of Philip". In Arabic though, it's pronounced "bin-te". In British English, it's just "bint".

TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 8 of 17?] Just as the whiplash of changing character stories subsides, we're thrust back with the Huron and the GDI troopers within the giant craft. According to the author, there were "very few casualties" among the 22nd - one has to assume that our hero's unit may have been the only to lose anybody, I suppose? Everybody celebrates a victory over NOD, Vega is treated as a hero and everyone gets drunk. The author then tells you that 4th battalion lost +50% KIA and +20% WIA in the last fight. Very few casualties [300 to 1000 troops - you do the math]! After the gang talks and banters and gets more drunk, McNeil shows up and immediately beelines for Vega to shake his hand and reveal that Takeda, the scientist Vega saved with his cool action-guy moves is the leading expert on Tiberium now that Dr. Mobius is dead. McNeil reminisces about how great Vega's dad is and how TWIII is going to be a short one if everyone can be as cool and good as Boy Vega. Fields promotions take place, with Vega and Gallagher becoming Sergeants, replacing Goodier and Gnaizda, themselves becoming Lieutenants. Vega joined the unit "a few days ago". Alessio Bowles has a private moment reading mail from a PI investigating the disappearance of their family, apparently having joined the Brotherhood. Bowles goes to the brig and chit-chats with the NOD prisoners and they get philosophical about Tiberium and what is really poison and/or killing people and who is the real savior. Vega is promoted the next day and everyone hates him because he's the FNG who now outranks a bunch of them. Vega talks with Bowles and they both share their backstories of having NOD family (Javier Vega/Ricardo Vega are actually blood related to VEGA from Tiberian Sun!) Then Vega goes to see Hastings and gets chewed out because everything Vega did at the convention centre was dumb luck and our hero doesn't actually deserve anything! Woooooooaaaaaahhhhhhh. TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 9 of 17?] Back with Annabella, who is experiencing PTSD and nightmares from her time in the yellow zone continues interviewing, observing, and taking notes/video for her report on life with Tiberium. She goes home to her hotel room for the night and finds she is being stalked by a short, bearded man of western asian descent. They make a kissing feet/provide me your firstborn routine as Ms. Wu attempts to unlock her door. The man is Mr. Anspaugh, alias, and appears to be a follower of the Brotherhood. They converse over Wu's ability to show the human element in her reporting, and how the deaths to Tiberium are merely natural selection sifting the weak from the strong. Anspaugh's attempt to recruit Annabella goes nowhere, and he leaves. She is left to wonder where GDI's security is in this zone... It turns out that Annabella was inserting her keycard in backwards *whomp whomp!* Minor stuff happens before Annabella packs her things to go back to the blue zone. On the, almost, empty train back, she meets Dr. Kwame Galiulin, a GDI doctor who had been demonstrating techniques in the yellow zones. Going through decontamination, the two train car occupants are forced to strip naked so that their clothes can be destroyed - wouldn't want any Tiberium coming in through clothing! The decon sequence sucks and I want to skip it and they have to take vomit pills and ughhhh. Oh the chapter ends, phew! TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 10 of 17?] Dimensional Portal ourselves over to Madagascar where Vega and co are on a support mission, protecting some new Mk 3A Juggernauts. We learn that the 22nd had been deployed to Portugal as well, as they've been marked as the defacto fire brigade to help out other GDI forces around the globe. Vega thinks back on some poker he played a few nights ago, I don't care. They talk about clearing some NOD scouts, and also keep mentioning being in trees, like literally climbing up trees and just being on their branches, apparently?! One of the walkers moves towards some Noddies and refuses to fire on them because reasons and then the walker steps on four noddies because I guess they didn't want to run or move in any way? Vega and his unit are specifically mentioned as not being the ones that acted in North Africa/East Coast USA - so nothing that's happening with them is game-related so far? Bowles muses some more about finding his family. Then an EMP blast hits the area and the walkers fall over and GDI troops are all dazed because they use their helmets for comms and stuff. Apparently, the visor is not transparent and is opaque when shut off. Epsilon and Gamma squad charge at the NOD forces and the author cuts to 20 mins later and the fight ended. Surprise! They captured yet another NOD trooper and everyone's gear rebooted. Everyone's feeling good that the charge worked and the CO calls in and congratulates people but oh no MOMOA is dying! Vega and Momoa talk about poker and seeing the mountains and then Momoa dies. McNeil shows up again and invites Vega and Gallagher to his office for drinks and McNeil casually drops the fact that he killed Kane with his own hands back in Cairo years ago. The mission in Madagascar is deemed a success; GDI prevented NOD from dumping tiberium into the ocean that would eventually cross to India/Asia and start infesting those areas wait what the gently caress what do you mean water just transports tiberium there and why do they need to do this in Madagascar they could've just dumped Tiberium in whenever what is the point of any of this!? Oh and some other people died offscreen and now Vega is a Lieutenant. one small note on the final mission: the MCVs you get as reinforcement are for the specific faction, so if you deploy + build you can get that faction's special units. not that you need any of them by the time the very first reinforcement arrives...

Yeah the audio you get during the missions refers to them by their faction, but like in the video, you're so far into the mission that it begs the question as to why even bother with it.

You can build a Reckoner for each faction so you can have three of them at once, if you want to play around with them. Otherwise, yeah, there's not much point.

How do multiple subfactions work? Does a Nod war factory work as a war factory for each NOD sub faction or is it like capturing a GDI MCV where you have to tech up from zero?

It shouldn't, as far as I know. Looking at captured buildings as an example, each building has its own build queue, etc, so tech would be restricted to that - which would make keeping track of 3 different sub-factions a little annoying, and having to produce three different hands of nod, etc etc...

TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 11 of 17?] We're back with Penny Sookdeo watching a report from Annabella, and then the author describes the report. Blah blah infestation blah blah Liebnitz and co have honor, blah blah living through adversity. Then Penny and Annabella argue over GDI censoring the part about almost getting recruited by a NOD agent and they bicker. Something something "My life was in danger" yadda yadda ethics in journalism. Sandra Telfair makes an appearance, they share deets on the NOD agent. W3N literally holds GDI hostage with the footage unless they agree to allow Annabella to report along with the GDI forces at the frontline - and luck has it that she'll get sent to the 22nd Division. That's so dumb. It would actually be a pretty fun reward to end the game if you could just plop down another two giant deathwalker war factories and roam the map with three of them. Why even tech them up when in the same cost of both time and money you can smother the map in venoms?

TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 12 of 17?] Its been a week since Vega's promotion to Lieutenant, he's busy with Gallagher listening to Boyle give a speech (the same one seen when Boyle is talking about now being in the loop of the command structure). Officers of the 22nd are called for a briefing: Australia is the next deployment. The news is accompanied by the arrival of new weaponry for Vega's company (he had to volunteer for them). At the briefing is Annabella, who is now officially attached to the 22nd for a story. People clear out after the briefing ends, but Vega and some of the higher ranked people remain to discuss the new EW1 guns - and Dr. Takeda appears and talks about how they are harmless to the user unless you overcharge it, to which it could then "vaporize everything within a 1-meter radius". Cut to GDI troops training with the new energy weapons and there's an argument by Zipes about using NOD weaponry and calling Takeda a crank. Annabella is also there, filming all of this interactions and openly talking about how some of the soldiers are insubordinate. Then Vega tells the soldiers to STFU and use the weapons and then Annabella is arguing with Vega about the dangers of Tiberium and how she watched someone with Ti-rot die and then they get back to testing the weapons but one of the soldiers opts not to shoot and they get arrested and thrown in the brig. Then Vega chastises Wu for speaking out of turn and there's some tension and they apologize and next chapter please. TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 13 of 17?] Back with Penny, who has contempt for her bosses and coworkers and W3N really just mirrors Fox News and I tire of it. The full name of Vega's division is the 22nd Infantry Division of the Keepers - which I think must be an error, right? Like, normally a Division would be "The 22nd Infantry Division" and have the nickname "The Keepers". Whatever, I'm putting more thought into this them they ever did. The Huron transports all their tanks and materiel, which is like... don't you have War Factories for this? Even the reporter is throwing the name "Giddy-Up" around instead of saying GDI or Global Defense Initiative - no loving way would that pass and keep you on the reporting line of things. Annabella is reporting stuff and just talks about the previous two fights we've read. Splice together some quotes and messages from soldiers she's interviewed already. And another thing I want to get off my back, everyone says Shite. gently caress off, author. Make them all Irish or have them swear less. Penny sees Redmond Boyle is now talking about stuff; GDI apparently has 6 Ion Cannon satellites/weapons in orbit, and they are apparently the 4th version [Mk.IV]. The Ion Cannon gets used on the Temple of NOD. Oops! Now Penny isn't even sure people will care about Annabella's story/reporting on the 22nd Division. TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 14 of 17?] We read on with Vega just as they are slicing NOD soldiers in half with his new EW1 gun while others use their GD4 rail gun. Turns out, the EW1s are fragile so it was a good thing Vega asked to pack all their backup guns for the family picnic. In this fight, Vega and Co have mammoth tanks and a juggernaut in support, both of which are impervious to NODs own energy weapons. As the chaos of battle ensues, invaders arrive from on high - the Scrin have arrived! More chaos, McNeil is cursing at somebody to get better connections to the troops on the ground, Annabella thinks to herself how she has a BETTER VIEW OF COMBAT THAN MCNEIL DOES thanks to one piddly drone, PAH! Oh no! Aliens on the battlefield! Oh no! Director Boyle played right into NODs hands! Oh no! The EW1s aren't actually safe and need to be recalled! Then Zipes dies because an alien sliced open his EW1 and also cut off an arm or something. Oh no! But THEN it turns out the EW1s are the only thing that can pierce the alien skin/armor so they have to use them even though they are mega-dangerous. Spahiu's EW1 is starting to leak but bugs are attacking, and in an act of self-sacrifice she continues firing until her gun kills her. Vega gets knocked down and is outnumbered, only to find some NOD soldiers calling towards him. "Any port in a storm" he says, and beats feet towards what can only laughably be called "safety". An hour of fighting later, with combat dying down, the small truce between NOD and GDI troops was too dicey for Vega, and so he takes off to find the rest of his unit. He later learns that only 41 soldiers of the original 300 assigned to the mission that day survived. Having arrived back at the Huron, the reunion party is shortened when a NOD buggy (the author thinks they are LITERALLY volkwagen bugs) with a white flag approaches. A Major Kumato chats with McNeil and offers a truce. Can he be trusted? Words from General Qatar, the urgency of the destruction of the towers, and desperation say yes. McNeil agrees to the truce, if only temporarily, AND locally, as the upper echelons of GDI cannot be reached thanks to comms interference... TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 15 of 17?] And now we're already fighting one of the Scrin Towers, a company of GDI troops and a regiment of NOD soldiers, along with two mammoth tanks, against a Scrin Tower. Oh, then the author says there are other NOD vehicles and aircraft there so nevermind. As the troops get into combat we see things from Annabella's viewpoint, who immediately stops caring about the fighting to listen to a broadcast from W3N's Frank William talking to a GDI scientist (one of those saved in the Munich mission). Annabella, bored of the news story, turns her attention back to Vega and the troops on the ground - 3 soldiers have been killed off-screen. She complains about some reporting on the HOLOSCREEN and then checks back on the tanks and now there's only 4 people on the tanks (there were originally 12 and 2 tanks). [There may have been a third mammoth, or the author just isn't clear on which tanks are alive or dead.] They destroy the generators and start falling back in preparation for the Ion Cannon strike that will destroy the tower. They've got 3 minutes to retreat, but, GASP, the aliens are trying to repair the generator! "FIRE THE ION CANNON IMMEDIATELY!" and the scene ends on an apocalyptic scene - will our intrepid heros survive? Dun, dun dunnnnnn! TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 16 of 17?] Medbay - Bowles dies. But not before giving Annabella one last interview on his deathbed. NOD and GDI forces have taken out almost every tower... except one! And now NOD seems to have ended the truce - bastards! There's a briefing with some officers and McNeil and they introduce the Dragonfly (which doesn't exist in-game) because McNeil keeps complaining about not being able to provide adequate C&C in a combat zone. Bull APCs are also introduced. [Pretty sure the Author got confused between the Pitbull and the Guardian APC. Cut to Vega shooting at an alien Tripod. Two more characters die off-screen. There's fighting and shooting and pew pews and McNeil gets way more screentime yelling at people to do stuff. Brodeur dies unceremoniously, cut in half by some aliens. Nodes are painted, Orcas drop their explosives but a force field prevents any significant damage to the looming construct. The Tower emits some green energy wave, crashing into the GDI troops, knocking Vega to the ground. The tremendous agony caused by the blast knocks Vega unconscious. TIBERIUM WARS: THE BOOK! [Part 17 of 17?] EPILOGUE! Vega wakes up in the Huron and we get some details about how he survived, but not enough to care about it. The Tower survived, drat and all that. The war is over, the Huron is on its way for awards and medals and a parade. NOD has split again, Kane is presumed dead, Qatar is found dead in Australia. Vega, getting all this exposition in sick bay, finds out he's promoted to Captain. Vega literally remarks how wild it is he made Captain in like 3 months of soldiering. Some chit chat with Gallagher (who seems to be the only other regular soldier to survive all this?) and then cut to Penny from W3N. Annabella gives a report, talks about sacrifice and hardships. Penny closes the feed. THE END PSYCH KANE IS ALIVE AND HE IS WITH BROTHER EAMONN AND THEY REVEL IN THE TIBERIUM AND PLAN FOR THE NEXT STAGE MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH LOSER GDI YOU STINK! FoolyCharged posted:I really appreciate the "oh God, just get this thing away from me" energy of how fast the updates came just to knock that trash fire out. There is technically a second reason for wanting to get the novel out of the way. You see, in 2001 a confidential document was posted (acquired?) or perhaps found that laid down the definitive storyline for the Command & Conquer series, specifically the non-RA timeline. Despite being created post-Tiberian Sun, the attempt to set things in stone didn't quite work out due to some parts later being declared non-canon. While the document would be more appropriate in the Tiberian Sun thread as a post-mortem, it also absolutely spoils the Scrin, even if only their name, and I wanted that surprise for this game specifically. So with that said... The C&C Bible [Part 1/?] Faction Profiles Global Defense Initiative: Definition: The GDI enforced the United Nations Global Defense Act and fought world-wide terrorism. It won the original war against the Brotherhood of NOD and now works primarily to stem the Tiberium plague. Soldiers trained to kill people and equipment designed to destroy their environment now work in ironic unison to preserve Earth’s remaining human population. The GDI runs its main operations off an orbiting space station, the PHILADELPHIA. The command shuttle, KODIAK, runs troops and commanders to surface battlefields. Since Tiberium spreads more slowly in arctic and desert areas, the GDI maintains their Earth-bound HQ in Point Hope, Alaska. The European command center rests on the frigid island of Hammerfest, Norway. Motivation: Originally, the GDI worked under UN supervision to preserve the free world. In the years since the first war against NOD, as the UN ceased to exist, the GDI’s focus changed to battling the deadly Tiberium plague. While the GDI defeated NOD, it cannot defeat Tiberium. With most of the world’s population dead or dying from Tiberium Toxemia, the resurgence of Kane and NOD remains the last thing the GDI needs. As the new battle unfolds, the GDI seeks to survive by defeating NOD again and finding some cure for Tiberium’s effects. GDI authorities believe they must ally with the growing mutant army to achieve that goal. The Brotherhood of NOD: Definition: This secretive, ancient organization uses global terrorism, economic manipulation and global mass media control to position itself for world domination. It once organized the resources of the Third World into a global force worthy of challenging the UN. While it promised the world’s down-trodden freedom from the West’s tyranny, the Brotherhood planned to use the Third World to enslave the entire Earth. Since losing the first Tiberium War, the Brotherhood maintains a token global presence, enforcing the peace and saving Tiberium survivors in non-GDI aligned countries. The Brotherhood runs medical colonies supposedly to care for these forgotten victims. In reality, they use the colonies as a PR front to recruit new troops and conduct Tiberian experiments. Under Kane’s secret direction, NOD builds a powerful underground army capable of attacking any GDI site with stealth from beneath the soil. By keeping his army underground and away from Tiberium, Kane preserves a significant amount of infantry. Motivation: The Brotherhood exists and operates under two guises: the pretentious, false and openly stated purpose; and the true, more insidious motivation. NOD claims to value the unification of all people. It forms units around the globe’s Third World nations, compiling resources into a considerable fighting force to challenge the supposed totalitarian wrath of the GDI. In reality, the Brotherhood exists to conquer and control. It plans to use the duped Third World to re-enslave itself. Once the Brotherhood defeats the GDI, it will expand its authority over the globe. This will obviously leave the entire planet in a Third World-brand dictatorship. On the most simple level, NOD exists to serve the will of the megalomaniac Kane. His lust for power, glory and revenge for his previous humiliation pushes the Brotherhood out of its internal skirmish and back into a global conflict. During the fight, Kane continues to study Tiberium’s properties, origin and potential to change the world. Tiberian Mutants: Definition: Some humans with innate genetic immunity survive Tiberium Toxemia -- only to see their bodies mutate into a human/Tiberian hybrid. The proliferation of these new humans accelerated during Kane’s experiments introducing Tiberium into the human body during the First Tiberium War. Mutations developed more quickly in these subjects as Tiberium crystals merged with human flesh. Unless a cure can reverse this mutation’s damage, all mutants seem doomed to become another lifeform. Many mutants still live in NOD medical colonies. Some inmates escape to form an independent, free-roaming army. The guerrillas strike from a multi-purpose transport called the LAMPREY. They fight to free and protect all mutants. While NOD considers the mutants direct enemies, many GDI troops look on them only as pitiful victims. The least sensitive soldiers on both sides refer to the mutants with the racist epitaph, SHINERS (due to the crystalline Tiberium formations erupting from mutant skin). The mutants respond by referring to any non-mutants as BLUNTS. Motivation: The world now holds three warring factions as the mutants hate NOD and mistrust the GDI. While they blame the Brotherhood for their existence, they believe the GDI holds a deep prejudice for their kind. Mutants also realize both sides would rather paw the dirt at each other than help the transforming humans. Since their altering physiognomy threatens their very existence, the mutants fight first to survive. They raid GDI and NOD bases for food and medical supplies. Their chief military purpose remains freeing other mutants from NOD colonies, thus adding to their numbers. They believe their mutation either dooms them to unavoidable death or ensures their ultimate survival in a Tiberian world made unfit for humans. Eventually, as their numbers dwindle, the mutants realize the necessity to tie their fate to the humans fighting to save the Earth. As NOD attacks the GDI anew, the mutants ally with the GDI forces. As the war rages and the mutants fight for their future, some victims see their mutations race out of control. They become BERZERKERS -- insane, raging creatures driven by their physical and mental deformities to attack any human. The stages progress from simple skin irritation to complete reverse evolution to a bestial form. All mutants bear some Tiberium crystal formations in their skin. As their mutations begin to accelerate, these skin eruptions take control, swelling to burst. They expel a fluid that rapidly bonds to the mutant’s still-human flesh, hardening into an exoskeleton. While the exoskeleton consumes the human body’s exterior, Tiberium toxins mutate the interior, rebuilding massive amounts of marrow and muscle tissue into crystal formations. Eventually, the very bones split, releasing more exoskeleton fluid. Soon the human disappears in a mass of shale-like flesh and distorted bone and muscle. The skull remains the most disturbing feature, as it warps and expands, eventually tearing open as the crystalline mutation takes full effect. After the final stages of mutation, GDI and mutant soldiers find themselves fighting one of their own...to the death. It takes combined GDI infantry to stop the resulting monster. The Aliens: Definition: (Species name translated to human tongues: The SCRIN.) This mineral-based lifeform appears roughly humanoid. Tall and spindly, a tapering torso gives way to long, thin arms and legs. A bottle-like neck supports a large, rounded and pointed head (shaped like a disk set on edge). They wear no clothing or protection over their hard, silver-black and shiny skins. Their faces hold two eyes set on opposite sides of their skull (like birds’ eyes), a v-shaped slit of a nose and a lip-less mouth. The mouth seems to appear and disappear as needed for communication, as if forming from some fluid or gelatinous mass underneath the exoskeleton. Though never seen without their Obsidian skin, the Scrin remain largely fluid and organic underneath their shell. Their bodies offer little in distinguishing features, except for a small glowing crystal in the center of their thin chests that indicates rank and social stature by color. When forced to communicate with humans, the Scrin can use verbal speech. However, when communicating with their species, they exclusively use light and color. They generate chemicals through their exoskeletons that create colored lights suspended in the air through rapidly dissipating gases. Their leaders hold the human race in almost amused contempt. Humans make their take-over much easier because their greedy in-fighting wipes out the population faster than Tiberium. As the substance sucks minerals and other nutrients from the planet, it also discharges hazardous materials into the atmosphere. In the end, the world the humans fight among themselves to control will cease to exist. If the humans would work together to stop Tiberium, they could slow its advance. However, there remains little they can do when divided against one another. The Scrin intend to terraform Earth and its ecosystem with Tiberium -- making the entire planet a mining colony. The Scrin home world holds a different atmosphere and a harsh, mineral-based environment. Before the species can spread to a new planet, it must engineer the victim world to proper specifications. Tiberium serves this purpose. It transforms whatever atmosphere and soil a planet provides into compounds similar to those of the Scrin world. In addition, the aliens collect the resulting crystals for various purposes. Once the alien material drains the planet dry of life, its keepers harvest their bounty and move populations to the altered world. The aliens build new societies over the graves of whatever lifeform preceded them. Motivation: The Scrin sustain themselves and their culture through the harvesting of what humans call Tiberium. Scout ships (UFOs) find useful planets. The aliens then use meteorites to send Tiberium to that victim world. As the substance takes hold of the planet, it drains life from the ecosystem. It transfers that life-force to the crystalline product. The aliens use the resulting mineral formation for essential energy. One way or another, Tiberium energizes the aliens as a fuel source, food source, raw construction material, medical supply, etc. It keys the Scrin reproductive cycle, sustains their biology, and enables their considerable technology. It is life itself -- collected into a “harvestable” crystal. Ironically, the easy proliferation of the substance allows the aliens to reproduce too swiftly. The Scrin’s rapid multiplication makes their constant colonization and expansion necessary. The race resembles a virus in the galactic body, spreading out of control. The fierce JUDGAR (should-GAR) military overlords control this alien society and direct its dispersal. The JudGar select Earth as their next target. During the Second Tiberium War between the GDI and NOD, the aliens send scout ships to Earth to investigate Tiberium’s progress. Since humans harvest the crystals so quickly to feed their various war machines, the substance does not have enough time to do its damage. The Scrin want to nudge one side of the war along to accelerate the terraforming. Kane’s openness to Scrin designs makes NOD the most likely candidate. The JudGar command, the more intelligent and elaborate Scrin, command armies of fierce drones. Mindless and simply formed, these drones act out the JudGar’s wishes in the field. When an alien craft crashes in an ion storm, the Brotherhood of NOD recovers its technology and dead pilots. The Scrin come to Earth to recover that material. They agree to a paper-thin alliance with NOD to push the humans’ meaningless conflict along. By aiding one side over the other, the Scrin hope to end the war. They then plan to bring their full occupation force, finishing their gutting and rebuilding of Earth. Only the TACITUS can save the Judgar’s next Earthly victims.

Bible Observations 1/? The definition for GDI seems to be pre-Tiberian Sun, as there's no mention of the second TW, on top of the KODIAK being operational. Its interesting to me that Kane's Wrath ends in Russia and not Point Hope, Alaska. It would've been more poignant. NOD's background does a lot more world-building than most mission briefings in C&C3/KW. It's interesting that they mention underground AND away from Tiberium - does anyone else read that as Tiberium needs to be at surface level and cannot survive underground? I'm not sure I like the direction of just "re-enslave the Third World", mostly because it cheapens KANE and the more interesting aspect of the fight for/against Tiberium. Do you choose to accept it as the future or do you fight to conserve what once was? Kane can still be a megalomaniac and have his own goals, but the struggle between conservation and adaptation is more interesting. The Forgotten! Barely any notice or mention of "mutants" in C&C3 was criminal, and I forget if the novel even mentions them. A guerilla army roaming the wastelands, looking out for their own, could add such a fun dynamic to campaigns, specifically through no-build missions. Even with a "tech tree" of sorts, 3/KW could've been leveraged for this. Its hard not to appreciate the motivation/background they gave the Forgotten, and feel bad for the squandered opportunity to give them the rub, whether in an expansion or in a sequel. The Scrin, though I truly can't understand why the notes on the bible say that the "Scrin background information has been confirmed as completely non-canon" seeing as its... mostly what we got? Perhaps the decision to make it non-canon was pre-C&C3 and those devs used it anyways? We'll (possibly) learn more later about how the Tacitus is the key [I didn't pre-read so everyone gets to experience the suspense!]

The fact the aliens are named 'Scrin' was in Tiberian Sun, wasn't it? I seem to recall that it says so in the mission where you defend the crashed alien ship.

Yeah, if you hover over it it says "scrin ship."

There's a lot of stuff about the Mutants! Considering what non-entities they are, it's surprising how much stuff there is about them. You'd think they were being developed as another faction, or at least a sub-faction (like the Fremen or Sardukar in the Emperor: Battle for Dune game). But nope. Nod gets a chance to "recruit" them in some missions if they capture a certain building. And... I forget, are they any good?

Not really. They pack a punch but TS is not a very infantry-friendly game.

I feel like the mutants were kind of meant to be a third playable faction for Tiberian Sun, like the Scrin in 3.
