I've been rebinding keys since coming back to this and I wanted to share a little innovation I've cooked up. So I used to have dodge on space and crouch on ctrl, and I always had a bit of a hard time hitting dodgeslide consistently, it often felt like I just wouldn't go anywhere, which you don't want out of you evasive actions, you know? So since I'm reacclimating fresh I figure, now's the time to solve this.

So what I did was, I looked at where my thumb naturally rested on the spacebar, which is just under the B key, and I put crouch on B. This way when I want a big dodgeslide I overpress space a little bit, I press space to dodge and then B basically the same time and I get the timing really consistent. Jump is on ctrl for easy mantling. W+Space is nothing so tap shift to run and use the same input across space and B for forward slides. It's really opened the movement up for me. Just thought you'd like to hear about this little innovation.

Protip you can bind multiple actions to the same key.

Just bind crouch and dodge to space. Unbind jump, put it on another button you can use occasionally. I literally am incapable of playing without dodge and crouch bound to the same button.

I really really wanna like Blazing Spirit Illisi but.

But it's bad. Slaughterer is just too good and infinitely better for managing hordes, and Exorcist or Unstable Power if you want to manage your peril while horde mashing or just do even more damage by spamming your special attack.

It's a bummer, it could be a niche build but the fact enemies won't burn unless they survive the crit really limits how useful it is, even with Wildfire.

Yea I ran it for one mission and switched back to DSIV. It's not like my Purgatus burnboi needs a horde-oriented melee weapon.

I'll give Flamer the points for being way better at point blank spread out stuff, but yeah the Kanterael Shotgun is way better at range if things line up. Enjoy your Blurn shotgun!

Here's the zippy revolver veteran I've been using.

It's not as good as a middle tree plasma shout veteran, but it's fun as hell, which is more important to me right now. It takes my least favorite class and makes it one of my favorites. Still fine on damnation. Probably wouldn't take it into most Aurics.

If you can, I'd scrape together two points to buy Tactical Awareness (faster cooldown on specialist kills) and Iron Will (50% reduced toughness damage above 75% toughness). The former helps you cycle those shouts faster when things get hairy (and is a prerequisite for IW), the latter synergizes beautifully with the over-toughness provided by your shouts.

The build can probably work fine in Aurics, you just need to be quick on your reaction time. I'm not sure how efficiently the knife cleans up chaff though, if it's not one-shotting reliably you may want to consider trading it out for something heavier. My revolver vet uses a combat axe for that and switches to the revolver when he needs to move quick.

I’d ditch Reciprocity and Fleeting Fire. You don’t need the extra crit for either weapon with the blessings you’ve got. And Fleeting Fire isn’t needed for a revolver with Always Prepared. You can easily weave in quick swaps in combat anyways to fully reload. But you shouldn’t unless you are trading shots with gunners. Probably better to keep 1-2 bullets chambered at most and maximize the crucian roulette crit chance.

You should try running a Devil Claw sword. Parrying is addictive and it’s super satisfying wiping a rager pack through parries.

its an internal cooldown. Stop dodging for like .5 seconds and you get them all back. You can be doing anything else but dodging.

It sounds simple but in reality .5 seconds is a surprisingly long time to not be dodging, especially if you suddenly have a specialist appear.

I took these bits of advice. They make sense, and I agree with the reasoning. I'm still using the knife instead of Devil's Claw because zipping around at extremely stupid speed is a big part of the fun for me, but yeah, if I want to take it to the top-end stuff, I can swap in the sword and run slightly less stupid-fast with the revolver.

You slide further out of the way.

Also I tried out binding both crouch and dodge to spacebar and I don't know if its placebo but it felt like I slid less far than when I plinked dodge > slide, like its skipping over a frame of buildimg momentum.

Normal dodge length is relatively short generally speaking. By binding crouch to dodge you will immediately transition into a slide that carries the momentum of the dodge. It lets you get more distance with a single dodge, transitions a bit more fluidly into the next dodge imo, and also looks cool (probably).

Give it a shot, it takes a bit to get used to but it feels pretty good when you do.

so you dodge farther side-to-side and backwards? do you need to hold it for a bit or just tap like a normal dodge? i tried it in the practice thing before asking but didnt really notice a difference but maybe i was doing it wrong.

You retain the slippery slide friction as long as you hold crouch until the dodge momentum peters out.

Doing this backwards is also a great thing to do with a Brain Burst psyker once you're locked on. You normally walk at a snail's pace when locked, but this gets you back to safety faster, and lets you dip around a corner or back from a ledge for cover. I even do it if I'm trying to burst an incoming rager just to give myself a little extra time.

I’ll give it a try but I used it while leveling and found the noise it made on light attacks very lackluster, like gently smacking a drum. I want some more visceral “your weapon is currently sawing through a heretic” vibes.

Loaded the game up after being away for awhile to check it out with a friend, friend was rubberband lagging all over the place and I was getting sound issues where the game sound would crackle > silence > crackle back in constantly.

We played one with mods and then one without mods but it was the same issues for us both, is this a known issue with a known fix or is it a case where the game collected virtual dust and it needs time to warm back up after not being played for awhile?

The OG chainaxe has the saw on lights if you really like that, but for the newer mk it's on the heavy attacks and imo it feels a lotta better to spam lights and only have to heavy attack for bigger targets rather than vice versa. I like both marks of the chainaxe a lot, but for managing horde the nuchainaxe is way better than the old one.

The soft clonks of the light attacks also amuse me, you're just swinging this heavy rear end axe as a club and it's kinda lol.

I'm assuming you tried verifying files after uninstalling mods? Haven't heard of anyone with issues like this, though at one point last night in a specific mission I had something overwhelm my audio drivers and had the crackle> silence> crackle. Haven't heard of any rubberbanding issues unless you're from pretty different locales, or just lovely ISP in general.

I play vanilla, and the only weird bug I've seen since the last patch involved spawn locations, and it was really goddamn weird.

I started a new Consignment Yard pub match at the normal starting point, the rest of the team spawned at the end point. Two of them in the yard, one literally on the landing platform. That teammate on the platform couldn't get back to the consignment yard because the ending bridge couldn't be extended from their side until after all objectives were complete.

The game immediately triggered the final objective, to disable air defense guns and capture the consignment yard.

I used alt+f4 to reconnect and I respawned onto the endgame landing platform. My other two teammates were already dead (but had at least shut down air defense) and the third was pinned down by snipers and gunners. Killed those enemies with plasgun, waited for the capture timer to run down, and the valkyrie landed. End of mission.

The monstrosity never spawned, which is good, because I had the only gun with enough range to hit targets on the far side of the consignment yard, but I def didn't have enough ammo to plink away at a chaos spawn.
