Sami Zayn is the wily guy who wins through guile and cunning, he was never going to take on multiple members if thr Bloodline at once and no one who knows what his character is would have expected that.

If Sami isn't beating Roman for the title, then this is pretty fuckin' egregious too, because that was Sami's one chance to meaningfully stand tall over the Bloodline at all.

Sami attacking the Usos, who have mostly stuck up for him and been on his side, would have been a lovely thing for him to do. Hitting Roman and then trying to explain to the Usos why, and then having him get attacked makes him more sympathetic and clearly a babyface.

I'm guessing we get KO, Jey, and Sami vs. Roman, Solo, and Jimmy at EC, The Bloodline falls apart more, Team Sami gets the win, and that justifies the WM title match.

If Jey is now doubting, which he has since Roman beat him in the beginning, he can get to Jimmy. Like I said, it's starting up a new story and there's no version of Ssmi Zayn's current character that Hulks out and takes out the entire Bloodline

Instead of doing "Roman defends one title over two nights", they do it as a triple threat on the second night (Roman, Sami, and Cody) with both belts on the line, with two falls (ala Jericho, Angle, and Benoit). Then they have Sami and Cody pin each other so Roman never gets pinned and both belts are split. And then later Roman wins them back because WWE is still desperate for a Roman/Rock match.

sami zayn looks sick and frail. not going to act silly or make any jokes about it. i hope he isn't hiding anything the way vince isn't even hiding that he's back. vince is, for sure, back. he isn't even pretending he's still gone. the information came out a while back.

Sami's the victim of Roman's sadism, even the biggest hack in the writer's room knows the payoff for that is getting a title match with your abuser. Now the question is if they actually let Roman get his karma and drop the title as the nice bookend to all this, or if Sami's going to get buried so some other good guy can be the REAL hero. THAT'S where the hack check is.

The storyline is great and I’m ok with not knowing exactly what match is going to happen when. Roman is going to destroy his own empire and lose all his titles because of his inability to stop pushing Sami and just trust, and however long that takes to happen I’ll be ok with cause it’s all been good so far. Starmaking performance from Gunther tonight too btw, if having the WWE moty wasn’t enough. Blasmeister fucked around with this message at 07:40 on Jan 29, 2023 |

I dunno where else to put this, but the WWE desperately needs to kill the iron man thing in rumbles for like, three or four years. At least three years. It's got to be the single most overdone angle in wrestling, which is an entire business built on stale angles. It's not cool or impressive anymore. It no longer showcases a talent. It's rear end and it makes them and the rest of your roster also look like rear end. It's hard to be impressed with something when it's not even a feat anymore. It should be a rare achievement, but instead it's a foregone conclusion and it's boring and reductive. When you have a wrestler in both rumbles go from 1 to the end, either winning or coming this close it doesn't actually tell me you have faith in them, at this point. It tells me you need to put more shine on them, which ends up just making them look bad. Especially when it's not an unexpected wrestler.

I enjoyed the show. Put a smile on my face. That said, - Anything Roman-related just goes on way too long. - "I dunno where else to put this, but the WWE desperately needs to kill the iron man thing in rumbles for like, three or four years. At least three years." This. The WALTER stuff at the beginning and end were great, but everything else was just passing time. (The Drew/Sheamus eliminations just seemed obligatory, "we're at the 45-minute mark, time to have some guys leave.") I don't remember a single thing Edge did in 2021. Etc. - If you write down the women's Rumble booking – there's literally 12 people still in the ring after the 30th entrant's botched entrance – it sounds like an all-time bad match, but I had fun. Some low-carders were in there for far, far, far too long though. - Just, lol Nia Jax.
