You can use your Zelda amiibo in all the Zelda games and also Smash, and it will even do something generic in most games that support amiibo reading. In principle, you can even save data to the amiibo in one game and then transfer it to another. Of course, the reason this works is because the data and validation are all inside Nintendo's ecosystem and they have an incentive to implement the data multiple times. It's never going to be the thing from Ready Player One where the guy dual wields Buster Swords in Lord of the Rings as if their stats make any sense whatsoever.
