So I'm mostly familiar with Tencent being the ones who run QQ, but I'm aware they're pretty massive in what they own. Does anyone know how they usually are with IP? Being one of those large company that seems to just buys up all sorts of poo poo, not the most optimistic, but some of those are companies are just sorta okay and a bit hands off and not EA levels bad.

They're mostly hands off, they're just a big corporate octopus that likes a widely diversified portfolio. They got involved because they own 30% of Larian, the studio behind BG3, and Larian was the first purchaser approached. Larian didn't have the funds so Larian asked Tencent to get involved.

Apparently they just want exclusive videogame adaptation rights, not the whole thing. Which I suppose Larian would probably be okay at.
