Tsubasa definitely had a good idea about playing around with all their other properties, but yeah, it got way too messy and they lost the plot. It sucked at the end. I don’t know how xxxHolic ends but for what I kept up with I ended up liking it more than Tsubasa. Edit: If you’re also talking anime the anime is way way better than the Tsubasa anime. Bee-Train tried but that thing was just terrible.

Miyamura is (comically) exasperated about the situation but the entire time he’s like “it’s good because I love her” and the ANN reviewer the entire time is going “Why does he put up with Hori’s rear end, she is acting like a complete rear end!” Like, sorry she has some flaws? Edit: I looked at the episode review again and I was underselling it. He starts off by stating Hori is a “massive rear end in a top hat”

The enshittification of RightStuf begins. They’re pausing any new memberships to evaluate how to “keep the value” of it. Read: Paying 15$ to get money off anything not on sale is costing us money Sony doesn’t want to lose. I highly suspect either cost goes up, or they simply axe the program claiming they do enough great sales already.

I fucken told you the enshittification of Rightstuf was happening and it happened with Crunchyroll yeeting it into the sun. I was curious why they all of the sudden partially filled a pre-order I made and shipped it after it only being open a month. I’m calling it now. All pre-orders will ship whatever was available and any pre-order you have pending is canceled and will have to be made on CR store. RightStuf as a brand was awesome to me. They gave me a year of Got Anime for free once because I couldn’t buy it normally. Eat a bag of dicks for killing off one of the few brands that actually cared about their customers, Crunchyroll. Yeah it’s a stupid thing to be upset about but I just hate how everything has to be gigantic corporations. Please don’t take Videogamesplus from me. They’re Canadian! Edit: someone pointed out how Crunchyrolls own store sold Re:Zero S2 for 89.99 while Right Stuf sold it for 67$. They were undercutting themselves. Guess what probably won’t happen now? Lol. My left nostril always stuffs up and bleeds a lot. I finally got to see a nose specialist after being on a wait list for a year and a half. Turns out I’m just an old man. “Yeah it’s a common thing in old people. Take this nasal spray. Buy this other Nasal spray and use it before walking in cold weather or eating/drinking really hot things, and shove some polysporin up your nose for a week.” It is really hard to sleep soundly with a nostril full of polysporin.

My Harmony remote seems like it’s starting to poo poo the bed and so I looked online for a replacement and Logitech killed the line. Looking at replacements but doesn’t seem like any of the alternatives are up to the same standard. I love hitting my remote and 3 different things fire up exactly how I want. Looks like the Sofabaton X1 is the closest contender but it has very mixed reviews.

I can kinda see why the creator of Sailor Moon didn’t like the original anime. Because as good as it is, there’s some aspects that boiled down to “what fetish did the animators have this episode?” when I hit the third season. “A volleyball gets possessed to be a SEXY volleyball monster.” “A puzzle piece gets possessed to be a SEXY puzzle piece” Like, can you just make a scary monster of the week like from the first season?

I finally was able to catch a showing of the movie Bottoms and that was one of the best movies I’ve seen all year. I was laughing almost through out the entire movie. They really captured that old comedy movie essence where if something funny isn’t happening up front, look in the background and something funny could be happening there. A+ movie. Plan on seeing again.

Let me try oldest to newest. Oh look, that same GitS release is STILL there. Yeah wow, this was totally worth destroying the RightStuf website which, you know, actually worked. Edit: oh cool, and then filters just became a suggestion because even though I picked “DVD” and “Blu-Ray” only for my filters. I’m getting CDs. Great!

Do you only print black and white? Get a laser. Do you print colour? Get an eco tank. I have an Ecotank and we’ve had it well over a year and only replaced the black ink once because we needed to do a power cleaning and the tank needed to be over half full. They cost a lot of money upfront but it’s because they expect to save you money longterm. I HATED selling the cheap 30$ printer to people because I would go “you are going to spend hundreds of dollars on ink. Don’t do this to yourself.” “But it’s such a good deal!” “Yes because they’ll sell a printer at a loss because they make the money on ink. You will literally pay more than the printer in under a year” “Price is banging. Ring me up” * 1 year later* “THIS PRINTER YOU SOLD ME IS A PIECE OF poo poo! THE INK IS SO MUCH MONEY AND IT DRIES OUT IF YOU DON’T USE IT” *sigh*

I know the Canadian dollar sucks, but even with exchange rate Rightstuf used to be better for my dollar to order my anime. Crunchyroll store is…very much not. They’re consistently 5-10$ more than Amazon. They’re the only way I can get Discotek titles though, so guess I’ll use them to make big Discotek and other niche stuff orders and buy CR shows on Amazon because it’s cheaper. This makes no freaking sense but that’s capitalism.

S1 just has a lot of setup to it, but I think the payoff is worth it. I’ll also say, I think Decode is an instance of an anime adaptation being way better than the manga. I fell off on it but I started reading a fan translation and while there were story beats that were similar, the plot was wildly different. It was okay, but I vastly prefer the anime.

I’m a teacher and this year for my film study unit I wanted to do animation. My films would be the Spider-Man movies, but I do want to setup how unique animation can be and how it can get across ideas that just wouldn’t work live action. My idea for a day would be showing a whole bunch of anime openings/endings that have really good/unique animation and pointing that stuff. Should I make a thread for recs or just do it here? I’ve got a huge list of stuff already but there’s probably some good stuff I’m not aware about.

Love how health care is absolutely screwed in my province. My family doctor quit and I tried to see if I could sneak into the doctor my parents have and the clinic was like “nope. Absolutely no one will see you. We will make no appointments.” I look forward to how a conservative government will fix this (they won’t).
