This fight is like 2 whole volumes of the manga or something like that, they aren't really padding it. It also owns super hard. I suspect they're budgeting their time to put some extra oomph into the animation next week since that should be the climax.

Stretching things with the minis is probably the least bad way to have the natural stopping point fit two cours neatly.
