i think putting swerve on the very top of the show would have felt bigger. plus it's weird with all the story line set-up all over the show it's the guy swerve was wrestling who got the progression and not swerve

Despite what is true or not it seems like they lost a good portion of the audience and the general perception of the promotion took a hit that it hasn't recovered from. I think it can be argued that if CM Punk never joined the company they would have been better off in the long run. My experience with aew until a few months ago is I would watch some of the ppvs occasionally up until the first punk fight happened and I heard Tony gave him his own show and I thought lol this promotion is gonna be dead in a year and I avoided aew until the sting retirement stuff
