the dark magical girl thing is different from complaining about WN/LN trends since it was never about volume, but the online idea that madoka had singlehandedly corrupted magical girls and stolen it from its original audience, so any time something pegged as a "dark magical girl show" came around you'd have people lamenting what the concept had become, forever

I'm pretty sure the directer/character designer also just likes golf and really wanted to make a golf show

I think some people also view 3D animation as inherently trying to displace 2D due to how things have largely played out with theatrical animation in America when that's not really the case with anime. There's cases of schools of 2D anime dying off (mechanical animation for instance), but that's mostly tied to the industry's own issues with drawing and training talent.

talking yuniko reminded me of a talk event she attended and someone summarized years back. The formatting is kinda goofy and there's no way to verify the details so grain of salt, but: https://yuriempire.wordpress.com/2018/06/04/yuri-talk-yuri-night-edition-1-special-coverage/ quote:After she finished came Yuniko’s turn. She talked about R.O.D. The TV, a 2003 anime series. It was actually the first anime she ever saw and she was hooked up immediately. She says she used to argue with her brother because she thought it was yuri while he didn’t. rest has some interesting chat on anime writing/screenwriting, it's a good look into how in anime that role really varies in direct influence from project to project Motto fucked around with this message at 04:22 on Mar 24, 2024 |
