First random lead me to a page dedicated to a manga from the early 90s, Video Girl Ai. I love looking at old anime and manga stuff, so this is a pretty fun find. It's a little sparse though, and it leads to geocities sites you can't go to anymore... until you remember oocities exists. Fun.

Jeez, something really powerful and eerie here, where the other names are hyperlinks but the first two with that (left the web) aren't.

The idea that someone could 'leave the web' is beautiful and sad and maybe impossible today.

this game was on a CD we had when I was a kid called "gamepak" that was just dozens of shareware DOS games in a big featureless list
it may have taught me the basics of strategy and probability, just incidentally. you had difference "stances" your dudes could be in, and if you attacked someone on the other team it'd be like "you have a 60% chance. are you sure?" and it got easier if you were in a more aggressive stance but harder if they were in a more defensive one

I'm kind of amazed it still has a website. almost all those old shareware games had baked-in addresses and phone numbers to call or write to if you wanted to order the full version, and I always assume now that there's no way there's still any kind of support infrastructure. it looks like this guy is still selling the full versions via paypal and google drive

the Surprise Me feature is curated. sites in the index have to be manually flagged to show up as a potential result

I had a similar shareware bundle CD as a kid. Something like 200 (partial) games on a single disc. Played quite a bit of capture the flag. I was never very good at it, but I was an idiot child.
