In a similar vein I stumbled across this tune recently and it's in heavy rotation on my headphones now. Thanks, that's a good feeling around a weird, kind of unpleasant New Year's Eve. Means a lot I've updated the link in the post to my SoundCloud, which I totally forgot about - sharing links via Dropbox like an rear end in a top hat. I had a stoned thought today that I think might have potential as an article, though where I don't know, and it's kind of masturbatory to think that way about what is essentially a joke. But here goes: I really dig that poppy riff-based D&B stuff from the late 90s/early 00s where it was clear this music was still figuring itself out and taking stabs at massive popularity. Early Pendulum is really emblematic of this (I mean their late stuff is too), and you can really hear why the pejorative term 'clownstep' took off. There's this weird - almost snide - irreverence to it, like 'gently caress you, dance.'
