Now that they booted their guitarist of 25 years, I'm wondering if these were Rob Crow auditioning to be in The Residents all along. :aaaaa:

Thank you. It definitely isn't effortless haha. Each one takes about a day to put together not including all the times I am halfway through and scrap the whole thing. But, yeah, the key for me anyway is trying to maintain a vibe.

I picked up an Amber Model 17 preamp at Goodwill today for $9.99. I had a gift card that I had to use by Wednesday, so I didn't mind taking a risk on it. Doing some research, it seems like it's a pretty high quality unit, even audiophile quality.

I'm not sure how to use it though... I currently have an old Pioneer SX680, which isn't exactly high wattage, and I don't really think I need a preamp going into this amp (educate me if I'm wrong, though!)

It powers on, but I haven't plugged it into anything yet.

Achilles surgery has kept me from hitting up any record shops for the past month+, so here's new stuff I've got in the mail recently.

Hoping to pick up some more Ty Segall stuff at his show in a few months.

Great spread of good stuff. I really like that Thee Oh Sees/Osees album even if it's not their best. I just appreciate the dip into Devo territory.

I've taken the same tack to Oh Sees stuff as I did for King Gizzard - live albums only.

That said, if there's a Devo swerve I gotta get on that.

Thanks! I've just started dipping my toes into Oh Sees within the past year or so, what are some of your fave albums?

Hah, yeah with Ohsees stuff there is just so much it's hard to know where to jump in, just like KGLW but somehow I think he has more albums?!

Problem with only going live releases is they don't play some of their best stuff live. Butterfly 3000 is a top 3 album for me, and I think they've only played one track off it so far.

A Weird Exits and Orc were probably my favorite records for years as that's when I really got into them but I go through phases of listening to their early stuff. Lately I've been playing Face Stabber and Smote Reverser on repeat.

I'm looking to replace my 10+ yr old expedit shelving unit that I'm using for record storage and my player. Is there a new (non ikea) favorite among collectors? I love the expedit and kalax units for their utility but they are not great to look at. I've been looking at shelving an cabinet style options but haven't found anything great yet.

If I didn’t have my cleaning stuff I’d use a soft, washed, microfibre cloth. Brushing gently around the record following the grooves.

I've had an unusual run of luck at thrift stores in the past week:

That Otis Redding is one of my favorite albums and I was stunned to find it at Goodwill in VG+ shape. I'd take the stickers off but I'm out of Ronsonol.

I also came across & blind-bought some Chinese/Taiwanese pop/folk music:

I've only listened to the top left so far: it's pop/surf/folk/weird and right up my alley.
