Sparty caught two rabbits (one bigger than a loaf of bread!) several possums, and even a bird on the wing, but didn't kill any of them thankfully. They were just shell shocked. Even the bird.

Bonnie used to try and catch squirrels but she’d get too excited and start barking while stalking them :3:

Gello was the premier hunter of our little pack. She'd stalk anything furry or feathered, but she wouldn't actually start chasing until the prey started running away. That's how she managed to stalk a squirrel up into a tree, and made friends with a mole rat. The one time she did manage to chase and catch a squirrel, she shook it, broke its neck and waited for me to come take her prize from her.

Boudicca, on the other hand, chases but never catches anything. I suspect she was very speedy as a younger pup, but age has definitely caught up to her - the best she's managed in the last year is a half-hearted gallop after some hadedas.

BTW, do any of your greys do a little 'dig' at the ground, after pooping? I thought it was just a habit Tazo happily maintained (despite my protests :v: ) but I just saw another grey do the exact same thing, on my way home. How weird!

With their front paws? That sounds adorable?

Boudicca just does the most aggressive back-leg kicks after pooping. Sometimes, she loses track of which legs she's kicking with and she ends up faceplanting. It shouldn't be funny, but it is because she's so goddarm serious about it.

Hah! Unbelievably funny :D As for Tazo, it's either, honestly. Sometimes front, sometimes rear. Occasionally he tries using all four paws, which ends up with him stumbling around a little, which is both funny and concerning - he's always just so darn happy about it all, though! The main problem is that occasionally he'll dislodge a clump of grass...

I’ve never heard it called digging but Katie will scratch the grass like a big cat, which commonly sends clumps flying since she really digs in with those giant claws.

She also seems to have an itchy bottom and will either sorta wiggle her rear end on the grass or drag herself a little, always with this giant goofy smile on her face. Usually from this position she explodes into a leap/run so you gotta be prepared for that.

Fallen Rib
Our most recent foster used to ‘scratch’ or dig at the grass super intensely after peeing mostly but some times pooping as well. Yep she got her own poo poo on her rear paws a few times which was fun. :classiclol:

Hazel does it occasionally too and sometimes does a little spin after which is fun.

On a postive note, Boudicca is going very strong for a 13-year old dog. Worried about what the winter will bring, but she's still enjoying herself (even though she's slowed down dramatically since we got her).

I love when I try to get this lazybones to get up to go out one last time before bedtime and she’s too drat lazy to move six inches to get a treat

(Colors are weird because I set the smart lights to deep red when it’s time to get ready for bed)

The lights work too well! Had to drag Boudicca out today, we've had our first proper rainstorm and it was miserable.

Well, since Tazo has gotten over the slump he's been in all year, yet is still very much lonely whenever I'm not around, yesterday arvo I took him to see a tiny up-for-adoption hound named Lana. And well, they hit it off! I was entirely expecting Tazo to be nervous/uncertain, since he's not super keen on unfamiliar dogs in general, but he got along great with her! So as a result, she's now with us

She and Tazo have gotten along great, overnight. Taz has been a little uncertain about having another dog in the house, of course, but they've gotten along together real well. No accidents or anything overnight either, so it's a promising start. Lana still needs to figure out the stairs (she got up to the first corner as per the photo, but then decided that it's not for her... just yet, at least! I'm sure she'll change her tune very soon :v: ) but otherwise everything is going well for the duo

(They've had their muzzles on for a while, as they're meant to be on for a few days. I haven't put them back on since feeding them though, since they've gotten along so well)

Watson is possibly more dangerous with his muzzle. He bashes it on everything trying to get it off.

Welcome Lana! More pics!

OK, well you asked for it - so here we go! Lana's been here for over a full week now, so she's had a lot of experiences about the house. She figured out the stairs after a couple of days (although it was incredibly funny to watch. She was climbing up them in a haphazard zigzag, like a rock climber on one of those multi-coloured practice walls) and quickly fell in love with the bed. Tazo... wasn't so keen on her latest discovery :v:

She's also a girl of contrasts. One moment she's posing elegantly with her legs crossed,

then the next, she's...well, not.

She's also started using the armchair, as Tazo hasn't been too keen on it the last few months or so. (I think it's a bit harder for him to get up and off of, as he's getting older)

Lana and Taz have been getting along quite well. She was yelled at by him when she stepped on his paw one time, but otherwise they've gotten along great. A little too great perhaps, seeing as for some reason, not only was she cleaning out his ears with her tongue, but... he enjoyed it?? He normally doesn't like other dogs touching his face, but he hasn't minded Lana licking or booping his at all. I mean hell, look at him leaning into it!

Also, for a bonus here's a photo of Lana being extra dubious, simply because I always find this reaction of hers hilarious. Can't remember what we were doing at the time - I think she was a little disgusted at being denied something someone was eating

Thanks! She is indeed a cute (and surprisingly tiny, IMO) thing! :3: And yeah, I was real worried Taz wouldn't be keen on her - I figured him liking Opal was a one-off thing, given how little he cares for other dogs in general. But nope, he's getting along great with her! It's also funny because she's somewhat conscious of the fact that in her excitement she occasionally jostles/bumps him around a little - so she'll stop and sniff+boop his nose immediately afterwards to make sure he's ok, before resuming her excitement. :v: (Since these days if he's bumped by an excited sibling, he'll go stock still, in the hopes that he won't be bumped further)
