I came across Sam Abell's Life of a Photograph at a thrift store yesterday. No idea who he is other than a Nat'l Geographic photographer, but the book shows multiple takes of the same scene or subject. Really cool and interesting. Much of the subject matter seems to be right up Dorkroom's alley, too.

Yeah I've got that book, it's a pretty good read on his Nat Geo photos.

Sam Abell owns, I've got a signed version of that book and it's one of my favorites. He was one of my earliest influences and still is today. His photo of cowboys branding cattle has always stuck with me: http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/wallpaper/ngm/50-best/cowboys-branding-abell/

If y'all don't know Alex Webb, check him out too, works with layers amazingly well in a similar way. The Suffering of Light is probably my single favorite photo book right now.

Mossless is back with their fourth big book — a look at portraiture that takes on the shifting lines of private and public realms (bear with us: on April 25th we can tell you the full title).

The book will have a reflective cover, oversize format with full-bleed, perforated pages and a separate text section. The book is being made in collaboration with Charlotte Cotton & the International Center of Photography and it'll be debuted at their new location this summer.

The line-up for this book is absolutely stellar, with photographers like Signe Pierce, Anouk Kruithof, Ryan Pfluger, Amy Elkins, Kris Graves, Jen Davis, Daniel Mayrit, Ditta Baron Hoeber, Shohei Miyachi, Rachel Stern, Farah Al Qasimi, Molly Matalon, Kalen Na'il Roach and many more, even a few painters — we're still working through all of our content. The hardworking Jonah Rosenberg joined the team as a contributing editor to make this all work perfectly. It'll be printed in Canada with design by the wonderful Elana Schlenker.

If you like this project, please consider pre-ordering your copy! Without enough pre-orders, this book may never be made. Thankfully there's something for everyone, we're making postcards and posters for this project too! Please be reminded that there is a lot more to come to this page in the coming weeks.

More architecture than photography, but I picked up an old copy of Living Architecture: Islamic Indian for a couple of euro bucks and there's some good stuff in here.

(also keep this thread alive 'cos I've used it as a guide to pick up some nice stuff)
I bought this today after discovering it here, thanks. I found a nice used copy in a local book shop.

Here are a few other great books I've got in recent months:
Rinko Kawauchi: Illuminance (2011)
Michael Mack (ed): Reconstructing Space (1999)
Jason Nocito: Loads (2009)
Juergen Teller and Nicolas Ghesquière: The Flow (2015)
Wolfgang Tillmans: Tillmans/Tillmans Burg/Truth Study Centre set (2011)

Bringing this back like it's April of Dickety Six.

I just had some work accepted into a pretty cool publication that's all about handmade works of a bunch of disciplines.

Looks like a pretty good deal for $10.

Aperture are soon to publish a Todd Hido mid career retrospective monograph, Intimate distance. It might be interesting, but probably less so than his individual bodies of work. It's also considerably smaller than his Nazraeli/Twin Palms titles.

Yeah looks like it will be reusing a lot of his previous photos, and seems to be like smaller than half of his usual photobooks.

Here's the somewhat empty intro text from the normally insightful David Campany. Perhaps there is nothing to say of the collection. I'm not moved to make a purchase.

Is anybody aware of any photo mags printed with Blurb's magazine printing service? I'm thinking about putting something together and just want to get my hands on an example or two for layout inspiration and to see how the cover weight feels.

this review makes them look pretty nice, but definitely want to get one in hand.

They took over MagCloud, who printed the old LPV and Kalina magazines, and a number of architects' portfolios. Perfectly respectable.

awesome, I like their pricing and I like the idea of a perfectbound mag rather than a hardback book. I only wish they did perfect bound landscape orientation as 95% of my images are landscape but I'll just have to get creative with the layouts and recrop a bunch of stuff I suppose.

I'm pretty sure you can do them as perfect bound landscape orientation.

I got in eggleston's selected works from the democratic forest books and the prints are gorgeous. Much better than the older eggleston books I've gotten though ILL. Makes me wish Kodak would reissue Kodachrome with the news about ektachrome but it's probably a lost cause

As far as I could tell they only offer spiral bound for landscape. I'll look again though
