Resident evil is great for this. Good ladders. Really makes you "feel" the ladder

There's this one part in RE4, where you've entered the castle already but you're fighting villagers instead of cultists, where you can go into this room with a key item accessible by ladder and the AI is missing the ability to go through the door below you so you can just endlessly knock down the ladder and they'll raise it back up It's almost relaxing in a way.

I always enjoyed the fact that despite having mediocre controls, Alpha Protocol allowed you to slide down ladders super quick if you wanted, as well as climb down them. That's they key to any good ladder experience in a game imo.

Any game that doesn't allow you to jump halfway onto a ladder before climbing it doesn't belong on this list, imo

E.Y.E. has some interesting ladder physics, and a total absence of ladder animations.

In dark souls 2 they inexplicably changed pushing the O button on ladders from sliding down to releasing your grip and falling the rest of the way. I still see people die to it in co-op

Older Splinter Cell games changed running speed via mousescrolling. If you switch speed on ladder descending you slide down instead of climbing.
