I've suddenly got it into my head that I need to play a game with giant robots in it. I put a ton of time into Armored Core: For Answer, and I didn't really like what I saw of Armored Core V. I don't really like anime-based games all that much, so Gundam is probably out unless it's like, really really good. Customization is a must. Any recommendations? I game on PS3 & PC, but I have a 360 if need be, although I don't really like to touch it since XBL is a pile these days.

Last I checked Chromehounds was pretty dead (also I didn't like it), I liked HAWKEN at first but after getting pretty good at it I rapidly lost interest... haven't tried Mechwarrior Online though. Edit: Although I'm hearing a lot about P2W with it so I think I might wanna pass on that. Dexters Secret fucked around with this message at 08:15 on Aug 12, 2014 |

MWO was a lot of fun(for me) when it was mandatory first person, haven't played much lately since they added third person(still fun, just immersion isn't the same)... Definitely worth trying.

Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders 2. It's animeish, but less so than something like Gundam and one of the most badass games i've ever played. It's also one of the most intuitively controlling games out there. Basically, if you want to control a giant robot that gradually improves as the story progresses and do other badass poo poo like fight other giant robots then it'll scratch your itch. It's worth noting that the first game is like one huge setup for the second one and that while the first game has maybe 50% badass moments, the second is like 90% badass from start to finish. edit: Trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfBRCT-m1MI Kin fucked around with this message at 08:31 on Aug 12, 2014 |

The ZoE series is easily as anime as Gundam. Also, the first game kind of sucked, but the second game was incredibly fun.

If you can get Mechwarrior 3 working, it's the best

How are these games in terms of customization? As I said, it is a big necessity for me. HAWKEN's level of robo-customization is something I'd consider to be a bare minimum, and I'm not really that satisfied with it.

You said you didn't like cromehounds, but there is this independant clone of it. But it's triple A as in alpha alpha alpha(mostly for ui and looks). http://store.steampowered.com/app/280440/ As for MWO the P2W is there but in most cases those players are terrible and it's a moot point. At some point that P2W will be a non-issue because everybody will be able to buy those robots for in-game currency. Also, the P2W mechs are not as customizable as the ones everyone can get. It's free and it's fun. It gets the feel of stompy robits right.
