SeXReX posted:the first time I played pokemon red I skipped the booklet (of course) and just went to figure it out on my own. I tried to catch the little flowers in town thinking they were bellsprouts. This is a good decision though because the manual is full of lies like implying that you should save the master ball for a "rare pokemon" like zubat.

Saw a Raticate card abandoned in a parking lot the other day. Left it alone because I don't play the CCG and it wasn't something good like a foil Charizard.

The only issue is that the game never lets you know the numbers exactly, so you need to look everything up online. It's like, deliberately there so that hardcore players can do the thing they want, without making little kids confused with all these strange numbers.

Real hurthling! posted:yeah they should do a materia system with tms that level up and just have the pokemon add synergies and special properties without gaining experience directly. no but you see you can't fix something that's not broken, pokemon has survived this long because of its awesome gameplay mechanics and not because spergs don't mind doing the same grind every iteration

Pokemon survives because it's become a culture. Also the cartoon sells the games to kids. I personally still wonder what level Ash's Pikachu is. I believe he gets a new one each generation and has Oak using his older ones as breeding studs. This is how he affords travel expenses.

They probably just crash in the lobby of pokemon centers. I'm sure all the people who, on sight, battle him with no option to deny and then reward money cover the cost of food they don't forage. Being a pokekid is like being a street kid except less heroin and more X-speed
